Abstract

This paper is discus about silicon nitride ceramics in application to ball bearing. Silicon nitride (Si3N4) have advance properties such as consistent at temperatureoperation up to 1000°C, greater thermal shock resistance, lower density and low thermal expansion. This properties gives some benefit for ball bearing material such as higher running speed, reduce vibration of the shaft, will improve the life time and maintenance cost, lower heat generated, less energy consumption, lower wear rate, reducing noise level and reduce of using lubricant.The sintering methods are used to produce ball bearing from silicon nitride. Some techniques can be applied to increase ceramics strength which are reduce porosity, reduce grain size, reduce surface flaw and proof stressing.The surface finishing of the ceramic bearing is very important because silicon nitride as a brittle material, its strength is limited to the flaw sizes especially the flaw at the surface.

Abstract

Population growth fastly causes the amount of energy consumption is increasing. Accretion of energy consumption without the addition of the source will cause the disruption of existing energy distribution system. Meanwhile, alternative energy development takes a long time while the demand for energy can’t be postponed. To overcome this, the government has issued Government Regulation No. 70 Year 2009 on Konsevarsi Energi. Main part of energy conversion includes an audit of energy that knowing the profile of energy use, identify energy waste and develop measures to prevent it. Energy audit can be conducted on the use of electricity in a building, such as households. Electrical energy consumption in households tend to be wasteful because people can’t regulate electric energy consumption in households. Electrical energy consumption could be reduced if energy use had been planned earlier. Therefore, in this study focuses on opportunities saving electrical energy by conducting energy audits. From the results of energy audits can be arranged steps and strategies that will be done in order to obtain saving electrical energy consumption in households. Beside it, this study also will be obtained a system which can be directly applied in the community. The method performed in this study is to create a new system which was performed on the system load replacement lamp, magic com, televisions, computers and implement energy management strategies. Energy management strategy adopted is to change the paint color from a dark room with bright colors, adding a new window and redesigning the room based on standards set by IEEE 802.3az. From the resulting new system can occur energy savings of 65.4% compared to the old system.

Abstract

The reduction of carbon monoxide (CO), unburnthydrocarbon (UHC) emission and fuel consumption on spark-ignition four-stroke engine is continuously attempted. The purposes from this research were to determine the effect of Hydrocarbon Treating System (HTS)  on levels of CO, UHC and fuel consumption. This is an experimental research. Its is conducted by comparing the exhaust pollutant concentration such as carbon monoxide, unburnt hydrocarbon and also fuel consumption between standard engine setting and Hydrocarbon Treating System applied. The research variable are HTS flow rate from Q1 = 0 cc/s (without HTS), Q2 = 1,5 cc/s, Q3 = 2 cc/s, Q4 = 2,5 cc/s, and Q5 = 33 cc/s. The research will be done in three conditions which are low, medium and high rotation. The result showed that Hydrocarbon Threating System decrease fuel consumption up to 19,43% with flow rate Q5 = 3 cc/s, but on the other hand it increase CO emission up to 80.84% with flow rate Q5 = 3 cc/s and UHC emission level up to 124.75% with flow rate Q5 = 3 cc/s from engine standart condition.
