Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of contact time on % adsorption of ethanol extract of Pucuk Merah (Syzigium oleana) Shoot-Leaves (PMSL) by filter paper. The ethanol extract of PMSL was obtained by using maceration technique for 24 hours with material liquor ratio (MLR) of 1:7 (g/ml). The adsorption of ethanol extract of PMSL onto filter paper was done at different contact times, i.e. 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes with MLR of 1:100 (g/ml), filter paper weight of 0.2850 ± 0.0092 g, solution volume of 30 ml and temperature of 81oC. The results showed that contact time effect on adsorption of ethanol extract of PMSL onto filter paper. The % adsorption of ethanol extract of PMSL onto filter paper increased with an increase in the contact time. The optimum contact time on the adsorption of ethanol extract of PMSL by filter paper was 90 minutes. Keyword : Pucuk merah shoot-leaves, Syzigium oleana, contact time, adsorption.

Abstract

ABSTRACT POME is non-toxic, but the high content of organic substances causes the value of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) which is still high, so that it will disturb the ecosystem if discharged directly into the environment. The pH factor plays an important role in anaerobic decomposition because in an inappropriate pH range, microbes cannot grow to the maximum and can even cause death. This research was conducted by varying the pH values namely ambient pH, pH 7.2 and pH 8 to determine the optimum pH value in the processing of POME in anerobic bioreactors. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of pH on changes in levels of COD, BOD, and VFA in POME by using anerobic bioreactors. As for the highest % removal resulr from each of these parameters is COD atpH 7.2 is 81.51%, for BOD at ambient pH is 80.56%, and for VFA the highest is at pH 7.2 on day-21 is 8616.6. Abstract

Artikel ini menjelaskan tentang modifikasi karet alam siklis (KAS) dengan asam oleat (AO) menggunakan inisiator dikumil peroksida (DCP) sebagai kompatibiliser dengan metode kopolimer cangkok. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental dalam skala laboratorium bertujuan untuk menghasilkan campuran yang homogen dan kompatibel paduan KAS dengan AO pasca penambahan bahan pengisi montmorillonit. Karakterisasi dilakukan dengan analisa FT-IR, DSC, XRD dan SEM. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan proses pencangkokkan AO pada rantai molekul KAS menggunakan inisiator DCP telah berhasil dilakukan, hal ini dapat dibuktikan dari analisa FT-IR muncul pita serapan baru yang tidak ada terdapat pada spektrum FT-IR KAS, yaitu pita serapan pada bilangan gelombang 1708 cm-1 menunjukkan adanya gugus karbonil karboksilat C=O berasal dari monomer OA yang sudah tercangkok pada rantai molekul KAS. Analisa KAS-g-AO dengan DSC menunjukkan telah terjadi penurunan suhu transisi gelas (Tg) sebesar 10.0 0C (dari 90.2 0C turun menjadi 80.2 0C). Analisa dengan SEM struktur morfologi mikrokomposit paduan KAS-g-AO pasca penambahan montmorillonit menghasilkan campuran yang homogen dan kompatibel terlihat seluruh bahan pengisi montmorillonit terdistribusi secara merata sehingga tidak ada terlihat rongga-rongga yang berlubang. Hasil kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah modifikasi KAS dengan AO menggunakan DCP dan bahan pengisi montmorillonit telah berhasil dilakukan menghasilkan campuran yang homogen dan kompatibel. Abstract

Kekayaan tumbuhan Indonesia banyak dimanfaatkan sebagai alternatif pengobatan penyakit degeneratif. Salah satu tumbuhan yang diketahui memiliki khasiat sebagai bahan obat alternatif adalah tumbuhan mangrove jenis Rhizopora mucronata. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui senyawa metabolit sekunder dan aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak etil asetat daun dan kulit batang R. mucronata. Analisis uji fitokimia dilakukan dengan cara uji warna, diantaranya adalah uji alkaloid, flavonoid, fenolik, steroid, triterpenoid, saponin, dan tanin. Sedangkan untuk uji aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode DPPH diukur serapan pada panjang gelombang 517 nm. Hasil uji fitokimia menunjukkan ekstrak etil asetat daun mangrove R. mucronata mengandung senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, fenolik dan tanin, sedangkan ekstrak etil asetat kulit batang mangrove R. mucronata mengandung senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, fenolik, dan triterpenoid. Kemudian hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak etil asetat daun R. Mucronata memiliki nilai IC50 sebesar 68,356 ± 0,906 ppm dan ekstrak etil asetat kulit batang R. mucronata memiliki nilai IC50 sebesar 116,902 ± 3,007 ppm. Berdasarkan nilai IC50 tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etil asetat daun R. mucronata memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan kategori kuat dan ekstrak etil asetat kulit batang R. mucronata memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan kategori sedang. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of pre-mordant material on kenaf fiber coloring using secang wood and teak leaves, to determine the Henodic Test method in classifying its quality, as well as to determine the significant effect on the color of kenaf fiber, and to determine the level of consumer preference for kenaf fiber. natural dyes. The research method used was an experiment with a variety of pre-mordant materials (alum, lime, vinegar). From the test, it was found that the color direction of the kenaf fiber was reddish purple to light brown, so the average value of fastness to washing was 4 (good). From this activity, it was concluded that the addition of secang wood and teak leaves as pre-mordant materials coupled with the effect of pH on the staining of kenaf fibers with secang wood extract provided variations in the direction of color and the value of color fastness to washing. Kenaf fiber is an environmentally friendly alternative to textile raw materials. This study used the Hedonic Test method with the Kruskal Wallis test. The results of this study were that there was no significant effect on the combination of compost application and pesticide application with natural dyes of secang wood and teak leaves on the color of kenaf fibers and there was no effect on the level of consumer preference for kenaf fiber with natural dyes. Abstract

This study aims to determine differences in students' creative thinking abilities that are taught using the multimedia Learning Articulate Storyline based on Discovery Learning without using the multimedia Articulate Storyline on the reaction rate material. The sample in this study were students of MAN 3 Medan Class XI MIA 2 as Experiment Class I and Class XI MIA 4 as Experiment Class II. The instrument used was a creative thinking test instrument consisting of 4 essay questions and observation sheets. Data analysis in this study used the two-party t-test to determine differences in students' creative thinking abilities with different treatments. The results obtained are that there are differences in students' thinking ability by obtaining tcount> ttable, 5,478 > 2.021. So Ha was accepted because it was in the area of ​​rejection of Ho. Therefore, it can be concluded that there are differences in students' creative thinking abilities that are taught using the multimedia Articulate Storyline based on Discovery Learning and those who are taught multimedia Articulate Storylines. Abstract

The research has been done the preparation of chemical modification natural rubber (Liquid Natural Rubber) by using latex high ammonia natural rubber (60 % drc), Triton X-100, phenylhydrazine, and oxygen. High ammonia natural rubber was diluted to 30 % by using 0.3 phr Triton X-100 as emulsifier at room temperature for 12 hours and continued oxidative degradation at 60oC using 1,75 x 10-1 mol phenylhydrazine and oxygen with flowrate 2 l/min for 24 hours until it became arising the decomposition with random cleavages and the macromolecular weight. The product of Liquid Natural Rubber has been result showing the significant infrared absorption with wavenumber 1665 cm-1and the molecular weight by using Ostwald viscosimetry 8.71 x 101 g/mol. Abstract

The root of the Bajakah (Uncaria tomentosa (Willd ex Schult.) DC is one of the plants found on the island of Borneo. People consume its roots to treat cancer. This research has been carried out in several stages, namely by extraction, partitioning, phytochemical screening, antioxidant test with free radical reduction method abd cytotoxic test using the BSLT method. The results showed that the phytochemical sceening of the Bajakah root contained alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenoids, and steroids, saponins and tannins. The antioxidant activity of the ethyl acetate partition has percent inhibition of 72,61%, for ethanol 96% 74,40% and 77,67% in water. The cytotoxic test on the ethyl acetate partition was 48,39 ppm and the water partition was 354,20 ppm. Keywords : Bajakah, Antioxidant, Cytotoxic

Abstract

The utilization of Alamanda leaf phytochemical test is an important step in the effort to reveal the potential resources of medicinal plants. The purpose of this research was to determine the secondary metabolite compounds contained in Alamanda leaves. The process is carried out through a preparation process, namely the process of cleaning and drying the sample using room temperature for 1 month and obtaining 180 grams of Alamanda leaf samples. The maceration process, namely the process of soaking the sample using 96% ethanol as a solvent, was carried out for 2 x 24 hours after which the rotary evaporator was carried out and obtained 6 grams of total ethanol extract. The fractionation process using n-hexane, ethyl acetate and residual ethanol solvents was carried out based on differences in polarity and weight in each fraction. The results of the n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and residual ethanol fraction were 2; 2 and 1 gram. The phytochemical test was carried out on the total ethanol extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and residual ethanol fraction. The results obtained from the phytochemical test were that the total ethanol extract contained alkaloids, triterpenoids, flavonoids and phenolics. The n-hexane fraction contains alkaloids, triterpenoids and flavonoids. The ethyl acetate fraction contains alkaloids, steroids, flavonoids and phenolics.
