Abstract

Optimization process of virgin coconut oil (VCO) production to meet the  quality of lulur cosmetics was carried out in the Institute for Industrial Research and Standardization Pontianak. This research aimed to  increase the productivity of pure coconut oil both quantity nor quality that were produced so it can meet the quality characteristics as  raw material of  lulur cosmetic. This research was use coconut and pineapple in a local species as the main raw material and other supporting materials such as VCO and others. There were 2 (two) treatment factor used  namely  A (bromelin extract volume) and B (mixing time). The parameters observed were water content, acid number, saponification  number, and free fatty acid (FFA). Results showed that the treatment without bromelin extract  with 5 minutes mixing time were the best treatment for raw material of lulur cosmetic, with the  water content 0.122%, the free fatty acid 0.062%, the acid number 0.174, and saponification  number 261,21  (the condition for oil as the cosmetic raw material was 0.2% max.).

Abstract

Process optimization of Pontianak aloe vera powder (Aloe chinensis Beaker)  as raw material for hand body lotion have been conducted on laboratory scale with the aim of obtaining the optimum conditions of processing technologies through the addition of maltodextrin and Carboxy Methyl Cellulase. The optimum results achieved at the ratio of maltodextrin to the CMC by 90%: 10%. Characteristics of aloe vera powder produced showing yellowish white color, water content of 8:56%, 5:50 pH, total solid Aloe 25.5%, weight flour ratio and fresh aloe vera leaves 1.5: 100, aloin content of 164.40 ppm, 257.08 ppm malic acid content, 10.32 ppm vitamin E and 1.4 x 105 colonies/g total bacteria. Making hand body lotion of aloe vera powder optimization results show the characteristic white color with a fragrant aroma, acidity (pH) 7:07, 10.34 ppm of malic acid, 1.1 x 104 colony/g total bacteria, and quite stable while storage.

Abstract

Tofu filter cake is the waste of tofu processing which is used for animal feed. In the other hand tofu filter cake can be used at extruded food processing. The purpose of this study is to look for the formulas and filler materials which could produce extruded food. The first variable in this research is the kind of corn that is pop corn and maize corn. The second variable is formulas of filler material that is composition of corn: rice: tofu filter cake = 1:1:0.5; 1:1:0.25; 1:2:0.5 and 1:2:0.25. The result is the formula which can produce best extruded food is pop corn: rice: tofu filter cake = 1:2:0.25 with Expansion Ratio (ER) 2.22 and protein content 8.83%.

Abstract

Bioinformatics is the application of information technology in the field of biology by organizing and analyzing genetic data from a database of DNA, RNA and proteins into meaningful biological information. One role of bioinformatics is to identify the unknown bacteria and analysis of phylogenetic relationships based on genetic information is relatively easy, quick and cheap. The research aims to determine species and analyzed the phylogenetic tree bacteria of the genus Pseudomonas in Bioinformatics.  Research conducted through the stages of isolation, testing and continuing 16S rRNA bioinformatics studies include, for studies using the Basic Local Alignment Similarity Search Tool (BLAST) from NCBI, Multiple Sequence Alignment (MSA) using Clustal W from the EMBL-EBI and visualization in a phylogenic tree using the Tree View software. Isolation is obtained 2 (two) isolates the code 251 and 252. Testing 16S rRNA sequences of nucleotides in Fasta format. BLAST analysis in GenBank database of identity obtained respectively 99%, E-value 0.0 and the value of bits score above 50, Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains MZA-85 and Pseudomonas sp. J16. Multiple sequence alignment (MSA) and visualization of tree phylogenetic homologous isolates of code 251 and has a kinship with the species Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolate 29 and isolate the code 252 with a species of Pseudomonas sp. J16 with a score of 99% and 100%. Isolates obtained by including the genus Pseudomonas species, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Pseudomonas sp that has a nitrogen-fixing ability and resistance to the herbicide.

Abstract

Testing Laboratories of Institute for Industrial Research and Standardization (IIRS) Pontianak has used modified SNI 01-3554-2006 clause 2.22.2.1 in the testing of copper in bottled drinking water. Modification of the methods required validation. Validation aims to evaluate the suitability of such methods by means of laboratory study as standard testing methods in Various Commodity Testing Laboratory of IIRS Pontianak. Validation parameter conducted namely accuracy, precision, recovery, linearity methods, method detection limit, quantization limit, sensitivity, and measurement uncertainty. Based on the results of the validation methods and statistical data processing it was concluded that copper testing method in bottled drinking water using Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) was compliant and suitable for use as standard testing methods in Various Commodity Testing Laboratory of IIRS Pontianak, indicated with good value of accuracy and precision, recovery 102.61%, method linearity correlation coefficient 0.9997, LOD 0.001 mg / L, LOQ 0.002 mg / L, sensitivity 0.0002 and uncertainty 0.0134 mg / L.
