Abstract

The using saw dust Lua, Kambang, Tarap wood and addition of boron solution on Modulus of Rupture (MOR), Modulus of Elasticity (MOE) and the fire  resistant gypsum boar. The purpose of using saw dust wood and down the process of fire gypsum board. Treatment research  that used of particle size (40 mesh and 60 mesh) saw dust wood, the percentage of sawdust and gypsum (300%, 400% and 500%), and the percentage of boron solution (1% and 2%). The results showed that the average value of Modulus of Rupture is between 16.68 to 31.11 kg/cm2; average Modulus of Elasticity is between 1129.80 to 3972.32 kg/cm2, and the average value of the fire resistant  is between 20.32 to 46.88%. Value of the largest / best for Modulus of Rupture (31.11 kg/cm2), Modulus of Elasticity (3972.32 kg/cm2), and the burned area (20.32%) resulted tha tratment of sawdust particle size Kambang 40 mesh, the percentage  wood sawdust and gypsum 500% and 2%  boron solution. The increasing particle size saw dust, and the amount of concentration gypsum, then the value Modulus of Rupture and ), Modulus of Elasticity the greater, and percentage the fire resistant small. Keywords: gypsum board, wood sawdust, boron solution, mechanical strength, fire resistant.

Abstract

The problem faced by purun craftsmen is the reduced of purun raw material which commonly used such as purun danau and purun tikus. Hence it tends to utilized purun bajang which lesser known but potential used as a raw material purun craft. The research aims to obtain the information on the physical and mechanical properties of purun bajang compared with purun tikus and purun danau as substituted of purun tikus and purun danau. The research conclude that purun bajang’s performance is almost same as another commercial purun in terms colour and impression touch, but purun bajang relative slippery than purun tikus and purun danu. Purun bajang can be used as material substitution of commercialized purun tikus and purun danau, but it is noteworthy because of the tensile strength which it have very low tensile strength. Purun bajang can be used as woven material after drying process without any pulverization because it cause increasingly fragile tensile strength. Keywords:  purun, physical properties, mechanical properties

Abstract

Utilization of gemor bark (Alseodaphne spp) distillation waste for particle board had been carried out. The aim of this research was physical mechanical from wood sawdust waste mixed with gemor bark distillation waste which properties physically and mechanically meet quality requirements. The raw materials used were sawdust mixed with gemor bark distillation waste which mashed16 mesh and the adhesive used were starch and PVAC. Composition variety of the mixture of wood sawdust waste particles and gemor bark distillation waste particle 50%: 50%, 60%: 40%., 70%: 30% with 5% adhesive. The results showed that highest average of modulus of rupture (27,55 kg/cm2) was obtained in 70% : 30% comparison of  sawdust and gemor bark distillation waste with starch adhesive (a3b1) and the density average was 0.75 gr/cm3. The highest average of modulus of elasticity (351,50 kg/cm2) was in composition of 60%: 40% with starch adhesive (a2b1) and the density average was 0.69 gr/cm3. The highest average of tensile strength (4,11 kg/cm2) was obtained in composition of 50%: 50% with starch adhesive and the density average was  0.79 gr/cm3.Keywords: sawdust wood, distillation waste, gemor bark, particle board

Abstract

Galam wood species (Melaleuca leucadendra) using for raw material bulding, charcoral, and energy. Galam bark wood waste has not been used. The purpose of research utilizing of waste Galam bark for board. Galam bark is cut into pieces with a length of 2 cm, 4 cm and 6 cm, then washed with water and dried naturally to moisture content below 7 %. Adhesives used poly vinyl acetate with a variation of 13 %, 16 %, and 19 % by weight of raw material. Cold pressing for 24 hours and a pressure of 15 kg/cm2. Parameters tested water content thickness swelling, density, modulus of elastisitas/MOE, modulus of rupture/MOR, screw withdrawal and tensile strength refers to the test metodhe SNI 03-2105-2006. The test results obtained water content between 13.59 to 15.52 %; thickness swelling between 5.85 to 20.65 %; density of between 0.38 to 0.90 gr/cm3; modulus of rupture / MOR between 8.62 - 56.12 kg/cm2 ; modulus of elasticity / MOE between 311.18 to 4022.33 kg/cm ; tensile strength between 0.16 - 0.55 kg/cm2; screw withdrawal strength between 30-70 kg. Bark size 6 cm long wood with a 19 % concentration of adhesive produced water content, thickness swelling, density, modulus of rupture / MOR, modulus of elasticity / MOE, screw withdrawal strength and tensile strength of the best. Keywords: galam, bark wood, board, physical mechanical.

Abstract

Ant plant (Myrmecodia sp) is one of the many forest products that has a lot of benefits. Active compounds in this plant has been proven to to have benefit for the body. The aim of this research was to obtain the formulation ant plant products that have some benefits. The research methodologies consist of ant plant processing, phytochemical testing, formulation making, candy making, product testing according to SNI and organoleptic testing. Based on the phytochemical testing, ant plant (Myrmecodia sp) contained active compounds such as saponin, alkaloid, tannin, phenolic, flavonoid, triterfenoid and glycoside. Based on organoleptic test, the most preferred for ant plant candy formulation were consist of sugar, glucose, honey and mint, and 25% of ant plant extract. Based on SNI 357.1:2008 about hard candy, the formulations of ant plant candy meet the requirements specified. Keywords: ant plant, extraction, active compounds, formulation, candy

Abstract

Bamboo is one of non-timber forest products that has been utilized for various purposes. One of its utilizations, as building materials, is in terms of shape and strips. However, with the rapid advancement of gluing technology, bamboo can be used as a raw material for plywood core substitution as veneer. The purpose of this research is to produce a machine strips of bamboo slats with thick uniform size that can be set suit. Before introduced to the stripper machine, bamboo stems must first be cut or thinned into the desired size. The symmetrical bamboo slats are then fed into the thinning machine using a bamboo carrier U-shaped device made of iron that leads to roll clamp. At the last roll, a steel blade is in place to divide and thin the bamboo slats. The upper roll clamp serves to clamp and press the bamboo slats. Rendement the average results of the cleavage 1 (one) sized bamboo rod 8 mm thick, 1.5 cm wide and 30 cm long with a volume of 216 cm3 based on the size of the bamboo strips obtained material thickness of 1 mm by 31.5 cm3 (7 strips) or about 14, 58%,, bamboo strip thickness of 1.5 mm by 74.25 cm3 (11 strips) or about 34.375%, and a thickness of 2 mm bamboo strips as 117 cm3 (13 strips) or approximately 54.17%.Keywords:  bamboo, strip, thinning, machines, knife, motors
