Abstract

Background: Diseases or health disorders in old age are generally chronic and degenerative, such as hypertension. Hypertension is greatly influenced by many factors. One of the factors that influences the occurrence of hypertension is physical activity. Regular exercise can stimulate the release of endorphins, which cause euphoria and muscle relaxation effects, so that blood pressure does not increase. Objective: This research aims to identify the relationship between physical activity and hypertension health status in the elderly in Ngabean Village, Mirit District, Kebumen Regency. Method: This study uses a descriptive analytical method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 54 elderly residents who were taken purposively. The data were analyzed descriptively and correlatively using Chi Square. Results: Based on the research conducted, it was found that most respondents (50.0%) in Ngabean Village, Mirit District, Kebumen Regency were in the moderate physical activity category. Most respondents (57.4%) in Ngabean Village, Mirit District, Kebumen Regency had normal blood pressure. Conclusion: There is a positive relationship between physical activity and hypertension health status in the elderly in Ngabean Village, Mirit District, Kebumen Regency (p =0.013).

The coping mechanism was formed as an adaptation to that stressor. Coping mechanisms in patients could be problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping. Objective: This research aimed to determine the differences in coping mechanisms between diabetic patients with and without diabetic ulcers at RSUD Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto. Methods: This research was a comparative research design. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. There were 49 respondents, 18 patients with diabetic ulcers and 31 patients without diabetic ulcers. Data was collected using the COAP questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-square test. Results: There was no difference in coping mechanisms between diabetic patients with and without diabetic ulcers (p=0.443). Emotion-focused coping was the most used coping mechanism among subjects with and without diabetic ulcers, and the coping mechanism of diabetic patients with and without ulcers was not different. The most important aspects of emotion-focused coping in respondents with and without diabetic ulcers were oriented to religion, which caused positive emotion and mental endurance to face the problem. Abstract

Background: Wound care is one of the techniques that nurses must master. The main principle in wound care management is infection control because infection inhibits the wound healing process, causing morbidity and mortality rates to increase. In carrying out wound care, nurses need to maintain the safety of patients and themselves with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Nurse compliance in implementing standard operating procedures is one measure of the success of wound care services. Objective: To know the relationship between the level of knowledge and compliance in the implementation of wound care according to SOP. Methods: The study was a correlational design and was conducted at RSUD K.R.M.T Wongsonegoro Semarang. The samples were 51 subjects collected by purposive sampling technique for surgical ward nurses. The data were analyzed by Spearman rank. Results: The results state that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and the compliance of wound care SOP (p=0.000), gender and the compliance of wound care SOP (p=0.000), age and the compliance of wound care SOP (p=0.000), education and the compliance of wound care SOP (p=0.000), working length and the compliance of wound care SOP (p=0.000), and training and the compliance of wound care SOP (p=0.000). Conclusion: There is a relationship between the knowledge and characteristics of nurses (gender, age, level of education, length of work, and training) and compliance with the implementation of wound care according to SOPs.

Abstract

Background: Critical patients are admitted to the ICU, undergoing bed rest and immobilization. Not only do they develop pressure ulcers, but also their hemodynamics and saturation may decline gradually. Passive ROM is usually administered to prevent joint shifts and to maintain blood pressure and saturation. Progressive mobilization is initiated to maintain blood pressure and saturation. Objective: To evaluate progressive mobilisation to maintain blood pressure, systolic and diastolic pressure, and increase saturation. Method: Penelitian adalah pre-post test control group design. Samples were recruited by consecutive sampling for 18 subjects. The intervention group was administered progressive mobilization level II for 30 minutes for 3 days, and the control group was administered passive ROM for 3 days. Data were analysed by paired t-test and independent t-test. Results: Passive progressive mobilization level II effectively decreases systolic blood pressure (p=0.022) and diastolic blood pressure (p=0.000), and significantly increases saturation (p=0.000). Conclusion: Passive progressive mobilization level II is more effective in decreasing blood pressure and increasing saturation than passive ROM.
