Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Caring is importance and essence in nursing which means accountability of relationships between nurses and clients, where nurses help client participation, acquire knowledge and improve client health. The purpose of this study was to explain the various factors that influence the character of caring nurses in all hospital at Gresik City. Methods: This study used cross-sectional design with 85 nurses used cluster sampling in RSUD Ibnu Sina Gresik, Semen Gresik Hospital, Petrokimia Gresik Hospital, and Muhammadiyah Gresik Hospital. Independent variables were psychological factors: intrinsic motivation, extrinsic, personality; Individual factors include ability, skills, age, gender, education, length of work. Organizational factors: nurse unit manager leadership style, income, material resources and model of nursing care wards. The dependent variable was caring character of nurses. Data were collected using questioner and data were analyzed using multiple logistic regression test with significance level α ≤ 0.05. Results: The average value of caring nurse character= 87.19; Most of the respondents were in good category (90.6%). There was influence of psychological factors: intrinsic motivation (p = 0.017) and extrinsic motivation (p= 0.037) with caring character of nurse. There was influence of individual factors: age (p = 0.043), length of work (p = 0.038), income/ month (p= 0.011) with caring. There was no influence of organizational factor with caring character. Conclusions: Character of caring nurses in each hospital can be improved by continuing education and nursing training with considering intrinsic and extrinsic motivation factors of nurses. Abstract

Background: Eating is needed by body to gain enough nutritions for our life, recovery, energy at doing activities, growth and development. Nutritious foods are important for students in order to improve the quality of human resources. Applicable intervention to provide nutritious foods for them is by giving attention to their snacks. Snacks for students may give high contribution at providing nutritions for them, on the other hand snacks may also have a high-risk of biologically or chemically contaminated which lead them to have health problems. Methods: The research method was comparative used cross sectional study. The research measured Staphylococcus aureus contaminant of food street, behaviour of merchant, tableware and food presentation. The sampling method was purposive sampling by taking samples from different merchants. The samples size were 21 samples consisting of cilok, sausage and nuggets. Methods of data collection was interview, observation and laboratory examination. Results: The results showed : cilok, sausage, and nugget were contaminated by staphylococcus aureus with the percentage of 100%, 70% and 88% respectively. The unhygienic behavior of the merchants, tableware and food serving created a high risk of food contamination. Conclusions: factors which related to the contamination of Staphylococcus aureus in cilok, sausage, and nugget were the behavior of the merchants, tableware, and food serving. Abstract

Background: Nurses are the largest component of health care. Emergency Departement nurses must provide excellent service and quality so that the achievement of Compassion satisfaction, but the nurses must also deal with the conditions that cause a stressor for him so that appears Compassion Fatigue. The charges charged to the nurse create a separate stressor that can cause Burnout. This study aims to determine the relationship of professional quality of life with nursing service quality nurses ED Sidoarjo regional hospital. Methods: The design of this study used observational analytics with crossectional approach. Sampling approach using simple random sampling with a sample as much as 82 respondents consist of 41 nurses ED Sidoarjo regional hospital and 41 patients. Data analysis used spearman test. Results: The results showed that all respondents (100%) had high compassion satisfaction, 33 respondents (80.5%) experienced average burnout. and respondents (30.6%) experienced compassion fatigue on average. 23 respondents (56.1%) assessed the quality of good nursing service. Result of statistical test between compassion fatigue with quality of nursing service got p-value 0,028 (p> 0,05) and correlation coefficient (r) = 0,861. This means that there are a significant influence and positive correlation between the two. Test statistic between burnout with quality of nursing service got p-value 0,998 (p> 0,05) and correlation coefficient (r) = 0,000. This means there is no influence and also the correlation between the two. The correlation test between compassion satisfaction and nursing service quality cannot be done because all respondents have high compassion satisfaction. Conclusion: Professionalism is a reality that is expected by all parties working in the world of health services. Abstract

Background: Hypercholesterolemia is a common clinical situation that lipoprotein meatbolic disorder characterized by elevated serom low density lipoprotein and blood cholesterol and conidered as one of the significant important risk factors of atherosclerosis that leads to cardiovascular diseases. Prevention and relapse of such circumstances depends on diet and cholesterol control. One of the most effective herbal therapies is the consumption of celery and carrots in attempts to controll cholesterol levels. This study aims to analyze the effect of giving celery-carrot pudding on cholesterol level changes in patients with hypercholesterolemia in Aspol Koblen Bubutan Surabaya. Methods: Pre experimental research design with one group pretest-posttest design. Sample Population of hypercholesterolemia patient Aspol Koblen Bubutan Surabaya with sample number 17 respondents selected by non probability sampling approach. The research instrument used cholesterol observation sheet. Data were analyzed by using paired t test. Results: The results described average cholesterol levels 257 mg / dl before treatment and after treatment to 204 mg / dl. The result of paired t test showed the effect of giving celery combination of carrot pudding to cholesterol level change with p <0.001 (p <0.05). Conclusion: The implication of this research is celery-carrot pudding could decline lower cholesterol level in hypercholesterolemia patient, so for hypercholesterolemia patient should consume celery-carrot pudding as one of non pharmacologic treatment to decrease cholesterol level. Abstract

Background: Infants and children health care is vital at preparing a healthy, smart and qualified generation and reducing infants and children mortality. In the last 5 years, Neonatal Mortality Rate (NMR) remains at 19/1000 births. Apropriate neonatal care can prevent infant’s death and also prevent residual symptoms due to complications or health problems previously. This study purpose to identify effect knowledge to neonates health status in the intervention and control group. Methods: This study was conducted experimentally in the intervention group with control group comparison. The Purpose of this study to describe the knowledge of mothers about neonatal care with neonatal health status. The sample was taken using purposive sampling with 30 respondents in the intervention group and 30 respondents in the control group. Results: There is a significant effect of health education toward mother’s knowledge level about neonatal care (pV = 0.000 ; 0,05). There is no influence between mother's knowledge about neonatal care toward infant health status with p-value = 0,508 (p > 0,005). Conclusion: Infant health status is not influenced by mothers’ knowledge level about neonatal care. Keywords: Neonates, Morbidity, Neonatal Care

Abstract

Background: Nursing human resources are a very important asset and component of a hospital service, contributing 55-65% to the hospital image out of the total number of employees. The utilization of human resources is essentially a form of employee empowerment in a hospital. The empowerment of hospital nurses will give a positive impact to nurse satisfaction, customer satisfaction, and organization, but it is still common to find hospitals that still lack in empowering their employees. This research is aimed at determine the relationship between nurse empowerment and Quality Of Nursing Work Life (QNWL). Methods: This study used a cross-sectional approach. The population is nurses who have the status as civil servants at a Dr Haryoto Hospital Lumajang, and by using a multi-stage sampling, 134 respondents were obtained. Data were collected by the questioner and were analyzed by using Spearman’s Rho correlation with a significance level of 0.01. Results: The result showed variable of structural empowerment, the highest category is opportunity with 46%, in the psychological empowerment is confidance with 63%, while at the QNWL, work context received 54%. Empowerment was significantly related to QNWL (p=0.000, r=0.326). Structural empowerment was related with QNWL (r=0.286) and psychological empowerment too (r=0.213). So empowerment was able to increase QNWL by 32.6%. Conclusions: Empowerment had a direct influence on QNWL. Strategy of empowerment so important to increase engagement so role of nurse managers creating a work environment and improve the quality of services provided to the patient. Abstract

Background: Baby massage is a touch therapy of the skin by hand. Infant massage is believed to increase brain stimulus, optimize the growth process, smooth blood circulation, to stimulate digestive system function, and even increase endurance. Also, can build Bounding Attachment. Nurses make promotions to reduce infant mortality. For that need the existence of intensive education so that can build good bonding attachment. Methods: This research design is Quasi-Experiment with nonrandomizer pre-test post-test with the control group. The number of samples was 6 as the intervention group and 6 as the control group. The research variables are knowledge and attitude of Bounding Attachment before education and knowledge and attitude of Bounding Attachment after education. Data were collected by questionnaire. Results: Based on the result of research there is the influence of education to mother primipara to knowledge and attitude of Bounding Attachment, with t independent statistic, with pValue = 0,003. In conclusion, there is an influence of education giving the influence to increase knowledge and attitude of primipara mother of intervention group in doing bounding attachment. Abstract

Background: Learning schedules are densely packed, tasks and homework make students stress and fatigue so that interfere with their quality of sleep. This study aims to analyze murottal Alquran in improving sleep quality. Methods: This research method used quasi experimental design with the Pre-test-Post-test approach. The sampling technique used accidental sampling with control and treatment group. The number of samples used is 30 students. Sleep quality is measured using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Results: There was a significant difference sleep quality (p = 0.001) in the treatment group and no significant difference in the control group (p = 1,000). There was a significant difference in murrotal alquran therapy in improving sleep quality (p = 0.001) between treatment group and control group. Conclusions: Murrotal al-Quran therapy effective to improve sleep quality in nursing students of Jember University Keywords: murottal, alquran, sleep, quality

Abstract

Background: The smoking habit of a family member without regard to the surrounding environment not only can cause problems for smokers themselves but also cause problems for other people, including a toddler who lives with them. One of the problems which often appears in young children due to the exposure of cigarette smoke is Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI). ARI in toddler is a major cause of toddler health care visits and toddler mortality in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to describe smoking habit of a family member in ARI in the toddlers at the Bungah Health Center Gresik District. Methods: Samples of this study are 100 toddlers suffering from ARI and the technique which used is purposive sampling. This research employs the descriptive quantitative method and the instrument used is guttman scale with r table value is 0,36. Results: The results show that from 100 toddler respondents, male 56%, female 44%; aged ≤ 12 months 28%, 72% aged 13-59 months; malnourished nutrient status 6%, poor 15%, good 78%, overweight 1%; Mother’s last education, primary school 5%, junior highschool/equal 24%, senior highschool/equal 60%, 11% college; smoking habit of family members 73%, with no smoking habit of family members 27%; smoking habits without regard to the environment 58.90%, 41.10% attention to the environment (n = 73); 25.58% one smoker, more than one person 74.42% (n=43); mild smoker (30.24), moderate smoker 34.88%, 34.88% severe smoker (n=43). Conclusions: Conclusion is a large of number of toddlers with ARI, have a family with smoking habit. Keywords: ARI, Smoking habit of family member, Toddler
