Abstract

Quality of housing settlement in Bali Province is expressed by local genius of diversity of local community development. The main issue that lead to the change of it, is the factor of population growth both naturally and migration from village to urban.Although many efforts to increase the environment quality of slum settlement, have been conducted by local government, private and community. Yet, many slums area still need to be improved their quality. Those are caused by the lack of finance both provided by government and community. It seems that the community who have strongly local custom and supported by fully together commitment, will be able to increase their quality of housing settlement and environment.Aware of the limited of many sector involved in increasing the environment quality of housing settlement and also realize to the highly local potency of Bali Province, so the approach of community development will be the best option to conduct in order to overcome the growth of slum settlement.

Abstract

Basic concept and thema of the final project in Departmenty of Architecure Unud have already been discours academic. The difference of opinions occur because the matters pertaining to meaning in confusion, deviate from scientific thinking process. This paper will give the simple thinking: to purpose on process that the cronological of treasuring behind the both meaning can give comfrehension about the meaning in fact (essence and function) and scientific logically.

Abstract

The highest number of Indonesia’s fire incidents occurs in housing areas. Besides high fire loads, it is also caused by high building density areas. In generally, it is can be easily for hundreds of people losing their homes and lives.This is a preliminary study of housing’s condition which related to fire hazard. It will not make a model of measure planning, but conduct conceptual approach only. It is compare any literature with condition of Sarijadi Bandung housing as a case study.The result shows that condition of Sarijadi housing is lack of fulfill fire requirement, especially lack of fire prevention equipment, lack of water for fire fighting, difficulty in accessing the fire location, building’s compartment and other.So I suggest that fire safety in Sarijadi housing must conduct inter houses compartment with fire retardant material; access and water for fire fighting; and areas for vehicle’s turning radius.

Abstract

In this moment, the method of housing development were already friction between conventional method and industry method. Paradigm of housing development in developing countries, include Indonesia, make use of industrialization as development.strategy. This case needs the transfer technology from industry countries to developing countries. The paper discusses the friction of housing development method and the transfer technology in construction industry of Indonesia.

Abstract

Urbanization by means of the infiltration of urban functions into rural area has caused many problems. In human settlement sector, low quality houses emerged on rural-urban transformation area, without any concern on safety, comfort and health factors as well as any other living standards. The main cause was probably a cultural shock, the lack of education and environmentally awareness, but things have been worse since no access can be build for the community to the help of professional environment designer. As a result, the settlement is growing without any proper direction, generated merely by economic aspect producing new slum enclaves.Several ways are suggested to solve this problem, one of them is by establishing modular standard in housing. For the last several years many building codes and standards have been built. Unfortunately, those standards are too general or even too sophisticated, only limited number of people could understand.Standard system described in this article is a ‘down to earth’ modular housing standard for people from any kind of background. Simple people without any building knowledge could benefit from it. The implementation would not need any special skilled laborer while still maintain to meet the minimum standard for safety, comfort and health aspects. Modular standard also provide an opportunities for small scale construction industries, thus open a new field of work among the community. This standard is also eliminating the difficulties on people’s access to the assist of professional environment designer, in this case architect.
