Abstract

Social Studies (IPS) learning in elementary schools faces significant challenges due to low student motivation, stemming from the theoretical nature of the subject matter and conventional teaching approaches. Observations at SDN Balekambang 03 Pagi reveal minimal student enthusiasm, lack of active participation, and suboptimal learning outcomes in fifth-grade Social Studies classes. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing the interactive learning media Wordwall in enhancing the motivation to learn Social Studies among fifth-grade students at SDN Balekambang 03 Pagi. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The subjects were 28 students from class VB selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted using method triangulation: participatory observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of the learning process. Data analysis followed a model of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with source triangulation used for validation. The implementation of Wordwall demonstrated a significant transformation in the dynamics of Social Studies learning. Students showed increased enthusiasm, active participation, and engagement in learning activities. The use of various educational game formats such as interactive quizzes, spin wheels, and matching games successfully shifted students' perceptions of Social Studies from boring to fun and engaging. Teachers reported positive changes in student attitudes, with a reduction in disruptive behavior and an increase in learning focus. This study contributes to the development of innovative Social Studies learning strategies through the integration of digital technology. The findings support the implementation of game-based learning as an effective solution to address motivational issues in primary education. Keywords: Wordwall, learning motivation, Social Studies learning

Abstract

The primary issue in the realm of history education in secondary schools pertains to the dearth of student engagement, largely attributable to the conventional pedagogical methods that are characterized by monotony and a paucity of contextual relevance. The present study examines the effectiveness of outdoor learning-based history learning strategies through on-site and experience vibes approaches at cultural sites in Singosari District, Malang Regency. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the impact of outdoor learning on historical understanding, learning interest, and awareness of cultural and environmental values. The present study employed a mixed methods intervention design approach, which integrates quantitative and qualitative methods in a cohesive manner. The population under study comprised all grade X students of SMAN 1 Purwosari, with a total population of approximately 400 students, of which a sample of 183 students was selected through purposive sampling. Quantitative data were collected through the administration of pre- and post-activity questionnaires, while qualitative data were obtained through open interviews, activity documentation, and analysis of student impressions and messages. Quantitative data were analyzed using the percentage change in the results of the pre-post questionnaire, while qualitative data were analyzed thematically to reveal the meaning of students' experiences during the activity. The findings indicated a substantial enhancement in historical comprehension, a marked increase in enthusiasm for learning, and a notable development in empathy for cultural heritage and the environment. A substantial majority of students reported that the activities were both enjoyable and beneficial, with an overwhelming 99.1% expressing a profound experience. The findings of this study demonstrate the efficacy of the direct experience-based history learning model in fostering reflective, participatory, and contextual learning. Furthermore, the model's relevance to the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at various levels of education is substantiated. Keywords: Outdoor Learning, Learning Strategy, on-site observation, experience vibes dan Situs-Situs Singosari

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Mandatory Curriculum Courses (Mata Kuliah Wajib Kurikulum or MKWK) in fostering civic engagement among university students. While previous research has emphasized the role of civic education in shaping character and social awareness, limited studies have specifically explored the contribution of MKWK as part of a national curriculum policy to enhancing civic engagement, particularly in technical and vocational higher education institutions. This study addresses this research gap by focusing on the implementation of MKWK in three different universities: ITB, POLBAN, and Telkom University. A quantitative approach was employed, using a closed-ended Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to active students from each institution. The collected data were analyzed using Pearson correlation to determine the relationship between MKWK and civic engagement, as well as simple linear regression to assess the level of contribution. The results indicate that students' perceptions of MKWK fall into the very high category, with the majority assigning scores in categories 5 and 4. These findings are supported by statistical analysis, showing a significant relationship between MKWK implementation and increased civic engagement, as indicated by a tvalue of 15.883—far exceeding the critical ttable value of 1.652. Regression analysis reveals that MKWK contributes 56.3% to students' political participation, collective action, and community service. These results suggest that experiential and socially interactive learning approaches within MKWK play a crucial role in strengthening civic engagement in higher education settings. Keywords: civic engagement, MKWK, higher education, student participation

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of disaster education at SMA Muhammadiyah Zam-zam Banyumas region and determine the level of preparedness of SMA Muhammadiyah Zam-zam Banyumas region in facing disasters. The subjects of this research are students, teachers, and principals. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The data obtained was then triangulated to improve the validity of the information. The results showed that disaster material had been integrated into the curriculum, especially geography and physics subjects, and extracurricular activities. However, teachers have not been able to integrate disaster material into history subjects. Furthermore, schools already have supporting facilities such as school health units, evacuation signs, and light fire extinguishers, and carry out incidental disaster simulations. This research also shows that the school still uses a manual system and has not developed a comprehensive emergency response plan document. This study recommends the need to develop emergency response plans, improve disaster warning systems, optimize the integration of disaster material in all subjects, verify supporting facilities, and routine training and simulations. Keywords: Integrated Curriculum, Disaster Material, Senior High School.
