Abstract

A study of tree regeneration potential in urban forest of Universitas Indonesia was conducted in Februari—April 2014. Location was established was divided into 42 quadrats 20x20 m each which used to obtain trees data, plots of 10x10 m each which used to obtain pole data, plots of 5x5 m each which used to obtain sapling data, and plots of 2x2 m each which used to obtain seedlings data. The secondary data was processed to obtain vegetation data, and tree regeneration analysis then conducted. We recorded 417 individuals of trees seedling, representing 36 species and 17 family. Three species which had highest density of seedlings were Intsia bijuga Kuntze. (80), Hevea brasiliensis Muell. Arg. (56), and Ficus hirta Vahl (46). At the sapling stage, 387 individuals were recorded representing 43 species and 22 family. Three species which had highest density of saplings were Ficus hirta (55), Psychotria viridiflora Reinw. Ex Bl. (41), and Grewia tomentosa Juss. (41). At the pole stage, 76 individuals were recorded representing 29 species and 15 family. Three species which had highest density of poles were Swietenia mahagoni (L.) Jacq. (12), Grewia tomentosa (10), and Macaranga tanarius (L.) Mull. Arg. (7). Forest tree regeneration ability in urban forest of Universitas Indonesia was counted into a good category. A total of 23 species (69,7%) of 33 tree species were regenerating in plot and 9 species (27,27%) have a complete regeneration phase. Fabaceae , Euphorbiaceae, Tiliaceae, dan Moraceae were a family that has a good potential for regeneration and will filling the forest in the future. Keywords : vegetation analysis, urban forest, tree regeneration

Abstract

Macro algae are plants that live in the sea, belongs to the group Thalophyta. These herbs contain bioactive compounds that have the potential in the health field that is antibacterial. Antibacterial substances used as drugs in the treatment of several diseases caused by bacteria. Type of macro-algae used in this study is Padina australis and Laurencia nidifica of Pulau Penjaliran TimurKepulauan Seribu, using bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli as test bacteria. Antibacterial testing method used is the method of dilution with extract concentrations of 10%; 20%; 30%. For comparison is used as positive control in the form of chloramphenicol while the negative control used mueler hinton broth medium. The design used in this study is completely randomized design factorial. The results show extracts of P. australis and L. nidifica has potential as an antibacterial with different abilities to the test bacteria. L. nidifica extract has antibacterial power capability is higher than P. australis. Both types of macro-algae extract at a concentration of 10% is able to inhibit the growth of test bacteria E. coli and S. aureus. Test bacteria E. coli has a more sensitive response to both macro-algae extract when compared with S. aureus bacteria.

Abstract

Dragonflies is one indicator of the waters clean. This study aims to determine the diversity index of dragonfly in Situ Pamulang South Tangerang City, Banten. Data was collected using line transect method along the 400 m . observation was conducted on May up to November 2015. Dragonflies were collected using insect nets, identified was doing at Integrated Laboratory Center UIN Jakarta. Dragonfly found in Situ Pamulang were 15 species, 14 gerera, 4 family, 2 suborder, 279 individuals totally. The biodiversity index (H ') dragonfly in Situ Pamulang was 2.41 showed that the structure surrounding communities are very stable in both categories with a scale of 5. Brachythemis contaminate was common dragonfly there. Dragonflies tend to choose Ipomoea sp. as perch and landing. Keywords: anisoptera, diversity, dragonfly, Situ Pamulang, zygoptera

Abstract

Cilincing Waters is one of the coastal area of Jakarta with environmental pressures continue to increase. Put waste originating from anthropogenic activities increasingly concerned about the condition of waters in the region. This study aims to determine the status of pollution in the waters of Cilincing, Coastal Jakarta. Measurement of physical-chemical parameters of the water were analyzed descriptively based on quality standards used are based on the Decree of the Minister of Environment No. 51 of 2004 on marine water quality standard for marine purposes. Analysis of the pollution status can be approximated by using STORET contained in Appendix II Decree of the Minister of Environment No. 115 of 2003 regarding guidelines for the determination of water quality status. The results obtained from this study indicate that the levels of COD in the Waters Cilincing ranged between 119,86 mg / l to 398,01mg / l. While the DO levels ranged from 3,67 mg / l to 4,53 mg / l and BOD levels ranged from 32,1 mg / l to 35,47 mg / l. These indicate that the status of pollution in waters classified as contaminated Cilincing were grading DO, COD and BOD has exceeded quality standards based on Decree of the Minister of Environment No. 51 of 2004 on marine water quality standard for marine purposes. Abstract

Research of flowering phenology has been conducted on Wijaya Kusuma (Ephiphylum oxypetalum). The study was conducted in September 2012 - February 2013. This research aims to determine the effect of light and wind to the flowering phenology in E. oxypetalum. Total of 20 pots of Wijaya Kusuma placed at two different locations. Total of 10 pots of Wijaya Kusuma placed at quite light with lot of wind, and 10 pots placed in the shade with little wind. Wijaya Kusuma were placed in the shade vegetative growth faster than the others. Wijaya Kusuma were placed in quite light with lot of wind begun flowering at 8-16 weeks after planting. Flowering begun with the appearance of prospective interest in phylocladia node. Candidates flowers will bloom on the ninth day and bloom only 1-2 hours at midnight. Flowers wither on the tenth day and fall on day thirteen. Wijaya Kusuma were placed in the shade and a little wind is not flowering, but flowering may be induced by placing its in a bright place and a lot of wind. In this study concluded that wind and light affect the process of flower formation in plants Wijaya Kusuma. Keywords: Ephiphylum oxypetalum, Phenology, Flowering

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to get the best combination of BAP with organic material extract that can enhance the growth of Dendrobiumsp shoot in the VW media. The method used was experimental with completely randomized design, which consists of 12 treatments namely combination of BAP concentration with organic material extract. BAP concentration consisted of 4 levels i.e. 1 ppm, 2 ppm, 3 ppm and 4 ppm. The organic material extract used consisted of 3 types of extracts namely tomato extract, corn extract and banana extract, each of 100 mL/L. Each treatment was repeated 3 times. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (Anova) and Duncan 's multiple range test. The results showed that the average of the fastest shoots emergence time obtained on combination of BAP 2 ppm + banana extract was 1.33 days after planting, the average of the highest shoot number was 14 buds obtained on the combination of BAP 3 ppm + tomato extract, and the average of the highest shoots length was 2.06 cm obtained on a combination of BAP 2 ppm + tomato extract. Abstract

This research is aimed to determine the quality of carambola seed (Averrhoa carambola L.). Seeds have been taken from fruits with a range of ripening index of 5—6. The initial moisture content of seed was 40% on fresh weight basis with 92% initial germination. The seeds were dessicated to 32%, 25%, 18%, 11%, 4%, and stored at ambient (27--30 °C), cold (5 °C), and freezing temperature (-15 °C) for 4 weeks. Several parameters were measured, including the capability of seeds to germinate, maximal growth potential, length of hypocotyle, length of epicotyle and leaves (dimension). The seeds were found to be tolerant to dessication up to 4% moisture content in any storage temperature. The favourable storage temperature was cold (5 °C) with 40% moisture content and ambient (27--30 °C) with 25% moisture content. Keywords : Averrhoa carambola, seed germination, viability
