Abstract

The generic circumscription accepted is in a rather wide sense, including the synonyms Phyllodium,Dicerma, Aphyllodium,Meibomia, Monar-throcarpus, Pteroloma, Coda/riocalyx, etc.The generic delimitation against Alysicarpus seems doubtful; see the discussion under 2. Desmodium alysicarpoides.In all 39 species have been recognized among which none is newly recorded for the Malaysian area. Another, 4-0. D. bolsteri Merr., of which no material was available, could not be clarified. Of Ul- D. uncinatum (Jacq.)DC, an American introduction, I had no material either.A number of specific names have been reduced: D. muelleri Bth. and D. neurocarpum Bth. to D. filiforme Zoll., which is not endemic in Malaysia and appears to be a species which finds its widest distribution in North Australia and Queensland; D. archboldianum Baker f. from New Guinea is reduced to D. nemorosum F. v. M.; D. cumingianum (Bth.) Bth. from the Philippines is merged with D. umbellatum (L.) DC; D. podocarpum DC. and D. fallax Schindl. cannot be separated from D. racemosum (Thunb.) DC; D. capitatum (Burm. f.) DC. is reduced to D. styracifolium (Osb.) Merr.; D, longibracteatum Schindl., D. rufihirsutum Craib, and D. virga-tum Zoll. are both merged with D. velutinum (Willd.) DC; Dicerma novo-guineense Schindl. and Dicerma hispidum Schindl. have both been reduced to D. biarticulatum (L.) F. v. M. Besides, two varieties in D. nemorosum and D. adscendens cannot be upheld.Two new names are proposed, viz D. alysicarpoides for D. parviflorum (Dalz.) Baker 1876, non Mart. Galeotti, 1843, and D. blandum for D. ele-ns (Lour.)Bth. 1861, non DC. 1825 nee Schlecht. 1838.Two new varietal combinations are D. biarticulatum var. australiense (Schindl.) van Meeuwen and D. velutinum var. longibracteatum (Schindl.) van Meeuwen.A key to and synonymy and distribution of the species has been given. Indexes to collections and to names are provided at the end.

Abstract

In the genus Actinodaphtie Nees one new combination and one new species ace presented; in LAndera Thunb. one new combination, 4 new species and one new forma; in lAtsea Lam. one species has been reduced to synonymy, one nomen novum is presented, 5 new species are described and of 6 species new cecords are given; one species has been reinstated. The obscure Mackilus sericea Bl. is a3sumed to be conspecific with Persea bombyeina (King ex Hook, f.) Kosterm. In the genus Persea Mill. one nomen novnm, two new combinations and one new species are created and proposed. In the genus Phoebe Nees one new combination and two new species are presented

Abstract

During the exploration of the Momi-Ransiki region, about 80 km south of Manokwari on the west coast of the Geelvink Bay in Netherlands New Guinea in 1948,our party collected several specimens of a rather common,although scattered Annonaceous tree,which was locally called mies (pronounce: meece).I was lucky to find one tree in flower in the neighbourhood of the Warnapi (war = river), north of Ransiki.After examination the species appeared to belong to the genus Saccopetalum Benn.,hitherto unknown from New Guinea.In honour of Dr. J.Kools,at that time in charge of the Division of Planning (nowadays Professor at the State Agricultural University of Wageningen, The Netherlands), who took a lively interest in the exploration of this area, this species is called

Abstract

In Ceylon 2 species of Cynometra occur, the wide spread C. iripa of the mangroves, which was enumerated as Cynometra ramiflora var. heterophylla by Thwaites and wrongly included in C. ramiflora by Knaap-van Meeuwen and the new species C. zeylanica Kosterm., formerly thought to be the Malesian C. ramiflora. The latter, as defined by Prain and based on a Rumphian plate, does not occur in Ceylon. Cultivated is the Malesian C. cauliflora with a white- and a pink-flowered forms.

Abstract

In the wide-spread cucurbitaceous SE Asian genus Trichosanthes 5 new Malesian taxa are described by Rugayah, viz Trichosanthes auriculata Rugayah, T. beccariana Cogn. subsp. pusilla Rugayah, T.montana Rugayah, T. pendula Rugayah, and T. rotundifolia Rugayah. The new monotypic genus Borneosicyos, with the sole species B.simplex de Wilde, endemic of Sabah, is described by de Wilde.

Abstract

One hundred forty-five individual lianas were distributed on 2 East facing ridges on the second highest mountain on Java, Mt. Slamet (3418 m.), Central Java, Indonesia. Twenty one colonies were observed on small flat areas on ridges. The liana species observed include: Embelia pergamacea, Toddalia asiatica, Elaeagnus latifolia, Schefflera lucida, Vaccinium laurifolium and Lonicera javanica. Diameter of each liana was measured and liana density/flat area calculated. Floristic collecting was under- taken within the elevational gradient of liana distribution. Data suggest an ecotone transition from lower to upper mon- tane forest is observed between 2200 and 2300 m, though forest types are difficult to determine due to disturbance caused by fire at the upper elevations. Observing lianas at these unusuall high elevations with near pluvial rainfall, con- tradict established scientific theory concerning global distribution and abundance of lianas.

WONG, K. M. & RAZAFIMANDIMBISON, S. G. 2015. A new combination and a new name in Gynochthodes (Rubiaceae). Reinwardtia14(2): 297 - 298. - The new combination Gynochthodes lanuginosa (Suratman) K. M. Wong & Razafim. and the new name Gynochthodes suratmanii K. M. Wong & Razafim., the latter in place of Morinda wongiana Suratman, are proposed.

Abstract

Older epithets for Tetrastigma rafflesiae Miq. (1863; Vitaceae), also known as T. lanceo- larium auct. non Planch. and T. leucostaphylum auct. non Alston ex Mabb. (Vitaceae), are provided by Cissus coriacea DC. (1824) and Cissus verrucosa Steud. (1840), whereby the correct name for this host of Rafflesia spp. must be Tet- rastigma coriaceum (DC.) Gagnep. The name Tetrastigma pisicarpum (Miq., 1863) Planch., host of at least Rafflesia patma, likewise must be replaced by Tetrastigma scariosum (Blume, 1825) Planch.

Abstract

The following is an account and description of new species of Asiatic and one Fijian species of Parinari Aublet, originally intended to be included into a forthcoming monographic treatment of the Asiatic Parinari species Dr.Yan Prance (New York Botanical Garden) has informed me, that his revision and new classification of genera of the Chrysobalanoideae will be published soon and consequently I have deferred the publication of my monograph to a later date.The species here are treated in a conservative way and described as belonging to the genus Parinari sensu lato; between brackets I have added the section to which the species belongs.

KRAMADIBRATA, K. 2009. Glomeromycota recovered from cacao soil. Reinwardtia 12(5): 357–371.-Glomeromycotan fungi were studied from several cacao plantations in Indonesia (Java and Bali) and Ecuador. The identity of 28 species of Glomeromycota associated with cacao is presented.
