Journal DaFIna : Journal Deutsch als Fremdsprache in Indonesien is an electronic journal managed by the Department of German Literature at the State University of Malang which contains articles in both Indonesian and foreign languages. Articles contained in the form of analysis, study, application of theory, results of research, and discussion of literature with the following scope: 1) DaF (Deutsch als Fremdsprache) / learning German as a foreign language, especially in Indonesia, but does not rule out the possibility of themes same from other countries; 2) Germanistic / Deutsche Linguistics / linguistics in German and its teaching; 3) Deutsche Literatur / German literature and its teaching; 4) Übersetzung / German translation and teaching; and 5) related themes, for example a) Tourism / tourism management for German-speaking foreign tourists and their teaching and b) Deutschkurs / management of German language courses and teaching.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the criteria of the ideal teacher according to students in SMA Negeri 1 Batu. This study used a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey being the method. The data were obtained from questionnaires distributed to 121 respondents comprising all of the German students from 10th to 12th graders and the teacher. The result obtained was in the form of opinions regarding the notion of an ideal teacher. The result showed that the criteria of ideal teacher include material and lesson plan, preparedness prior to teaching, being familiar with students, understanding student capabilities, attentive, motivating, understandable explanation of materials, creative, implementing attractive learning method and media, responsive, tech-savvy, appreciative, patience, having sense of humor, assertive, discipline, objective, responsible, good role model for students. However, a number of criteria were not in accordance with the statements of the experts, namely the teacher does not give excessive assignments, yet always gives homework.

Abstract

The Purposes of this research are to describe the process when the students playa game called Duschans Schulweg and to know their reaction after playing the game. The participants of this Research are students of German lesson class, at SMA Negeri I Malang who have problems with German vocabularies learning because they only receive German lesson once a week. It makes them poor in vocabularies. The teacher must use a suitable media in German lesson so that the students don’t have any difficulties in vocabulary learning.This research uses qualitative-descriptive research method. The subjects of this research are 32 students of German class, grade 10 at SMA Negeri I Malang and their German learning activities. The data of this research are the process of learning German using Duschans Schulweg and the students reaction after playing the game. The instruments of this research are questionnaires and observation sheets.The result of this research shows that the game Duschans Schulweg is a suitable media to learn vocabularies easily. This research gained positive responses from the students, it makesthem motivated and they say they can learn German vocabularies quickly.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the students’ learning motivation and the effect of a tandem on distance on their writing skill. This research applied the descriptive quantitative method with two instruments. To gather the data, the researcher used questionnaires about learning motivation, tandem, and writing skill and documentation. The sample of this research are the 62 students who took the course German at B2 Level. Based on the result it can be concluded, that the learning motivation of the students is relatively good. However, there are some learning motivation’s aspects, which were not fulfilled. Those are the lack of positive mindset about the language, confidence, feedbacks from the lecturers, and the application of the target language. It was found, that tandem can be a solution to those mentioned problems and increase the learning motivation. The students also learn the German’s culture and get used to communicate with native speakers.

Abstract

This research and development aims to develop an Android-based learning media “DaKon” to train the speaking skill of tenth grade students in SMAN 5 Malang. The development model used in this research is a Production of Multimedia Packages from Ghislandi. The procedure as mentioned above includes (1) define the user needs, (2) design product, (3) data preparation, (4) arrange product, (5) system alignment and evaluation, (6) produce product. Based on the results of the questionnaire and the observation with qualitative method, the Android application “DaKon” can be used as a learning media to practice speaking skill of the tenth grade students in senior or vocational high school.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of learning German for student with special needs at SMAN 9 Malang, to identify problems faced by teacher in the process of learning German in student with special needs at SMAN 9 Malang, and to identify the efforts made by the teacher to overcome the problems which arise in the learning process. This study used qualitative-descriptive research method. The results of this study indicated that the process of learning German at SMAN 9 Malang implemented a full inclusion learning model. Materials, media, and evaluation sheets given to student with special needs were the same as those given to regular students. Problems faced by teacher during the learning process were the problem of achieving learning goals, behavior, concentration, and motivation. The teacher's efforts to overcome the problem of achieving learning objectives and material problems are by simplifying the delivery of material with the availability of special guidance teacher. In addition, German teacher assisted by a special guidance teacher would always guide and lead student with special needs with the aim of controlling behavior to be enthusiastic in participating in German learning activities. Keywords: Learning, German, Student with Special Needs
