Abstract

The research aims to depict students' activities using Rosetta Stone as the online learning media in learning German at SMA Laboratorium UM. The study was also looking for students' responses towards the use of the application. The research design used in this research was descriptive qualitative. The participants of the research consist of 22 students of tenth-graders majoring in language studies. The researcher obtained the data from observation and interviews. The researcher did the investigation to learn the activity of using the application in online learning German. The researcher interviewed the students to get responses from the students using the application as their online learning media. The result revealed that the application gave new exciting experiences in learning language, mainly German. The research had shown that the students actively engaged and gave a positive attitude towards the learning and teaching process, with the result that fostering learning independence. Students were able to access the materials in the application, and they understood the materials given comprehensively. Following the learning activity, the goal of the research was well achieved.

Abstract

This research and development aims to develop an Android-based learning media “DaKon” to train the speaking skill of tenth grade students in SMAN 5 Malang. The development model used in this research is a Production of Multimedia Packages from Ghislandi. The procedure as mentioned above includes (1) define the user needs, (2) design product, (3) data preparation, (4) arrange product, (5) system alignment and evaluation, (6) produce product. Based on the results of the questionnaire and the observation with qualitative method, the Android application “DaKon” can be used as a learning media to practice speaking skill of the tenth grade students in senior or vocational high school.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the reading ability of the students in Freier Vortrag course at German Department State University of Malang and the influence of reading ability on the students' presentation results. Based on the data collection, the average reading ability is 58 and the presentation result is 75. The independent sample test gives a sig. rating 0.000 less than 0.05. It means that Ha is accepted, "reading ability has an influence on the students' presentation results in Freier Vortrag course at German Department State University of Malang". The correlation analysis result shows significant contribution of the X variable on the Y variable (64.4 percent) and the r value recorded is 0.802 which proves significantly strong correlation between variables.

Abstract

Abstract: This research is conducted by the purpose to describe the effectiveness of the acceleration program in German Department of State University of Malang, the perception and also the projection of acceleration program students about the program. This study uses correlational-quantitative research method. The research instruments used are in the form of documentation of student learning result and questionnaire sheets. The analysis conducted i.e. normality test, homogeneity variance test, independent t-test and Mann Whitney test. Furthermore, interpretation and discussion of data is being established. Based on the results of the data analysis, it is concluded that the acceleration program runs effectively. The learning achievement of students from acceleration program appears higher compared with students from non-acceleration program. However, even an effective programs do not escape the shortcomings and advantages. Based on the results of the questionnaire filled by students from acceleration program (the questionnaire in this case is not the main focus of hypothesis testing), it is known that acceleration students are very enthusiastic and convinced that they will graduate soon by this program. However, during the process of the program, found that the confidence of respondents began to decrease and afterwards emerging problems that felt inhibit them. Keywords: learning achievement, acceleration program, PASCH, German department, German language

Abstract

This research and development aim to develop games based on android “Weiβt du das?” for vocabulary learning on the Wohnung theme. The research and development  model used in this research and development is the ADDIE, which consists of five stages. The stages are: (1) Analysis; (2) Design; (3) Development; (4) Implementation; (5) Evaluation. The data of this study were obtained from open questionnaire sheets of product trials by media and material experts. The result showed that game product could be used for learning vocabulary on the Wohnung theme.

Abstract

A discussion about the semantic and morphological aspects of prefixed verbs in German gives the learners an insight into a better understanding how they use those forms correctly in a sentence. The discussion also allows the German teachers to provide more detailed information about German grammar. In general, theoretical approaches used in studying the prefixed verbs are within the scope of synchronic and diachronic morphology.

Abstract

The study aimed to describe (1) the employment of Mastery Learning method, (2) the student learning outcomes after the implementation of the learning method, and (3) the effectiveness, efficiency and attractiveness of the employment of Mastery Learning method for teaching German grammar and vocabulary in two PASCH-schools in Malang. The study is a qualitative study using a case study design. The research data were collected from German language classes at two PASCH- schools in Malang, SMAN 1 and SMAN 5 Malang. Observations, video recordings, and interviews were used to collect the qualitative data. Data analysis was performed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman (1984). The findings reveal that (1) the Mastery Learning method was successfully employed at the two PASCH- schools, (2) the students’ mastery of the German grammar and vocabulary ranged from good to very good, and (3) the method was considered effective, efficient, and attractive.

Abstract

This study was conducted to explore and describe the clarity, the naturalness, the emotional expressions and the styles used in the translation of Hansel and Gretel fairytale. The data were collected through document analysis and analysed by using three main steps, namely data reduction, data display, and data conclusion and verification. The results showed that (1) there are many forms which are not clear and not easy to understand; (2) there are many forms which are correct grammatically but not natural; (3) emotion is expressed through words, phrases and sentences which describe anger, fear, sadness, joy and calmness; and (4) there are five styles used by the translator: simile, hyperbol, assonace, repetition and personification.  Permalink/DOI: dx.doi.org/10.17977/um015v45i12017p064

Abstract

This research and development aim to test the validity of the feasibility of the e-book "Flashback Sejarah Sastra" so that it can be used as a source of supporting learning in the Literaturgeschichte course. The research and development model used is the ADDIE development model. The ADDIE development model is divided into five stages, namely: 1) analyze, 2) design, 3) develop, 4) implement, and 5) evaluate. The results obtained from this research and development are that students who have taken the Literaturgeschichte course find the e-book “Flashback Sejarah Sastra" interesting and can support learning.

Abstract

Knowing the influence of the uses of Jabbalab.com site media as a German online learning support on learning motivation of XI grade students of SMA Negeri 7 Malang is this researchs aim. T Quasi-experimental method used to identify the impact between each variables, which the result will answer whether Ha or H0 accepted or not. In this research, datas obtained from the results of pre-questionnaire and post-questionnaire. Finally, the result of this research is Ha was accepted, which sounds that there is an influence of the uses of Jabbalab.com site media as a German online learning support on learning motivation of XI grade students of SMA Negeri 7 Malang.
