Abstract

Teachers have responsibility to create and develop an effective learning material in order to facilitate the student to understand the reading content optimally. There are, it is important to develop an effective learning material by using SQ4R strategy as the solution The type of this research is R&D by using 4-D model. The sample were 42 students and 2 teachers in primary school. The result of the research indicated that the validity rate of the learning material is valid. Then upon the assessment on the implementation of lesson plan, the responses from teachers and learning participants and the observations on teaching materials indicated that the practicality rate fell to the category of highly practical. Moreover, the result of the activity of learning participants on reading comprehension indicated to be effective. Hence, it could be concluded that the developed reading comprehension learning material by using SQ4R strategy has already been valid, practical, and effective.

Abstract

This research is motivated by teaching materials that are used less interest of students to read and not yet contain reading stage (pre-reading, reading and post-reading). The purpose of developing this instructional material is to produce a reading material that is valid, practical, and effective. The type of this research is development research using 4-D model. Based on the validity test obtained percentage of RPP by the expert validator 91.6% and 90.0% practitioner validator. Percentage of teaching materials by 90.6% expert validator and 89.9% practitioner validator. Practicality test of the implementation of RPP obtained percentage of 92.7%. Assessment of teacher responses obtained 93% and assessment of the response learners obtained 89.2% percentage The effectiveness of learning tools learners obtained percentage 81.6%. Assessment of comprehension reading process obtained 75.5% percentage. Based on these results, learning materials to read the understanding using the CIRC model can already be declared valid, practical, and effective.

Abstract

This research is based on teaching materials that are less suitable with curriculum demands, less adjusting to writing process (pra writing, when writing, and post writing), and less interest of students to write descriptions. This study aims to determine the validity, practicality and effectiveness of teaching materials write description using Three Word Main Idea Map. The type of research is development research. This research uses 4-D model which consists of 4 stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. Validity test data obtained through the implementation of RPP sheet, assessment of teacher and student responses. The effectiveness is seen from the activity, the assessment of the process and the result of writing the description. Based on the validity, practicality, and effectiveness test obtained the percentage is very valid, very practical, and very effective for every aspect. Based on the assessment of the results of writing description can be seen the percentage of mastery of writing results increased descriptions. Based on these results, it is concluded that teaching materials to write descriptions using Three Word Main Idea Map developed can improve the skills of writing descriptions.
