Abstract

This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to examine the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in supporting self-regulated learning (SRL) among senior high school students in online mathematics learning. Using the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, 45 initial articles were identified and screened into 16 empirical studies that met the inclusion criteria. The findings showed that AI technologies, such as adaptive learning systems, Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS), generative AI, and learning analytics, positively supported students’ SRL through personalized feedback, adaptive scaffolding, and real-time monitoring. AI also facilitated socially shared regulation of learning (SSRL) in collaborative online learning. However, excessive dependence on generative AI may reduce students’ learning autonomy if not supported by proper pedagogical supervision. Overall, AI has strong potential to support adaptive, collaborative, and student-centered online mathematics learning. These findings provide practical implications for mathematics teachers in Indonesia to integrate AI as a pedagogical support tool that encourages students’ learning independence and collaborative engagement.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is a fundamental challenge in Indonesian education, as reflected in the PISA 2022 achievement, which placed Indonesia in 70th place out of 81 participating countries with an average mathematics score of 366, far below the OECD average of 472. Realistic Mathematics Education (RME), which is based on the view that mathematics is a human activity, is recognized as a contextual approach that has the potential to bridge this gap. However, there has been no systematic synthesis specifically examining the trends and effectiveness of RME on mathematical literacy in the 2020-2026 publication period. This study aims to map research trends and analyze the effectiveness of RME in improving students' mathematical literacy through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach referring to the PRISMA 2020 protocol. Literature searches were conducted in Google Scholar and Scopus databases using the Publish or Perish tool with a combination of structured Boolean keywords. Screening and assessment of the eligibility of articles were managed through Covidence using the PICOS framework, resulting in 46 articles as the final data corpus. The study results show a significant acceleration in publication trends since 2023, with research dominated by junior high school students and quasi-experimental designs. RME has been consistently effective across all levels of education, with N-gain values ​​ranging from 0.29 to 0.80, mostly in the moderate to high category, and large effect sizes in several studies. The integration of RME with digital technology further strengthens this effectiveness. These findings provide a solid empirical foundation for the broader implementation of RME in mathematics education policy and practice, particularly within a competency-based curriculum framework.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the utilization of Google Sites as an interactive mathematics learning medium through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Unlike previous studies that examined web-based learning media in general, this study specifically maps the use of Google Sites in the context of mathematics learning, encompassing research trends, development models, integration of learning approaches, and its effectiveness across various educational levels. The SLR method was applied using the PICOC framework, with article selection following the PRISMA protocol through Google Scholar and Scopus databases, covering publications from 2021 to 2026. A total of 31 articles were selected after going through identification, screening, and inclusion stages managed using the Covidence application. The results indicate a significant upward trend, with R&D methods dominating (39%) and the majority of studies conducted at the Junior High School level. Google Sites development was widely integrated with Problem Based Learning, Flipped Classroom Discovery Learning, and ethnomathematics approaches using the ADDIE and 4D models. Google Sites proved effective in improving students' learning outcomes, motivation, and interest in mathematics across various educational levels, with validity and practicality ratings consistently in the valid to very valid category. This study recommends that mathematics teachers integrate Google Sites with active learning models to optimize student learning outcomes.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning model with the STEAM approach on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of junior high school students. The study used a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of 58 students divided into an experimental class and a control class. The research instrument was a descriptive test of mathematical problem-solving abilities. Data analysis used normality, homogeneity, independent sample t-test, N-Gain, and effect size tests. The results showed that there was a difference in the final mathematical problem-solving abilities between the experimental class and the control class with a significance value <0.001. The average N-Gain of the experimental class was 0.43, which is included in the medium category, while the control class was 0.20, which is included in the low category. The effect size value of 1.289 indicates a large category of influence. Thus, the Problem Based Learning model with the STEAM approach has a better influence on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities than expository learning. Keywords: Problem Based Learning, STEAM, Mathematical Problem-Solving Skills ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Problem Based Learning dengan pendekatan STEAM terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa SMP. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas 58 siswa yang terbagi menjadi kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes uraian kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas, homogenitas, independent sample t-test, N-Gain, dan effect size. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan akhir pemecahan masalah matematis antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dengan nilai signifikansi < 0,001. Rata-rata N-Gain kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,43 termasuk kategori sedang, sedangkan kelas kontrol sebesar 0,20 termasuk kategori rendah. Nilai effect size sebesar 1,289 menunjukkan pengaruh dalam kategori besar. Dengan demikian, model Problem Based Learning dengan pendekatan STEAM memberikan pengaruh yang lebih baik terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dibandingkan pembelajaran ekspositori. Abstract

Mathematics learning on the topic of Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SLETV) still reveals various student difficulties, particularly in solving word problems. Students frequently make errors in understanding problems, constructing mathematical models, and carrying out solution procedures. This study aimed to analyze the types of students’ errors in solving SLETV word problems based on Newman’s Error Analysis procedure. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach involving eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 15 Kota Serang selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through written tests, semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, while data validity was ensured through triangulation techniques. The results showed that students experienced errors at each stage of Newman’s procedure, including reading, comprehension, transformation, process skills, and encoding errors. The most dominant errors occurred at the transformation stage, particularly in translating word problems into mathematical models of SLETV. This study concludes that students’ errors in solving SLETV word problems are complex and multilayered. Therefore, systematic and continuous instructional improvements are needed, such as the use of contextual problems and problem-based learning approaches, to help students become more familiar with real-life situations and develop more meaningful problem-solving skills.

Abstract

Cognitive success in mathematics learning at the Vocational High School (SMP) level is often hampered by complex psychological variables, particularly during the post-pandemic curriculum transition. This research is crucial because low conceptual understanding often stems from affective factors that receive insufficient attention in classroom instruction. The purpose of this study was to analyze the profile of mathematical conceptual understanding from the perspective of self-efficacy levels, identify the impact of math anxiety on cognitive performance, and formulate effective learning strategies. The research method used was a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using the PRISMA guide. Data were collected from Google Scholar, the Garuda Portal, and the SINTA database using accredited article inclusion criteria from 2020 to 2025. Qualitative analysis was conducted on 10 reference articles covering cognitive, affective, and physiological indicators. The results showed that self-efficacy was a key predictor, indicating that students with low efficacy tend to be stuck at the pre-structural level in the SOLO taxonomy. Meanwhile, math anxiety has been shown to reduce working memory capacity, which manifests in cognitive and physiological disturbances during exams. The main findings indicate that strengthening self-efficacy can significantly mediate the reduction of math anxiety. The results of this study emphasize the importance of integrating educational psychology into learning. The proposed strategic recommendation is the implementation of a hybrid learning model supported by TPACK-based media and augmented reality (AR) to facilitate the visualization of abstract concepts while creating a supportive learning experience for vocational high school students.

Abstract

Low mathematical conceptual understanding at the secondary education level demands innovative learning strategies. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Game-Based Learning (GBL) on students' mathematical conceptual understanding through a systematic literature review. The method employed is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA 2020 protocol. Data were collected from Google Scholar databases using the Publish or Perish application within the 2021 – early 2026 period. Out of 123 identified articles, 11 experimental articles met the inclusion criteria for in-depth analysis. The results indicate that the application of GBL, particularly through platforms such as Quizizz and Wordwall, exerts a significant positive influence (p < 0.05) on students' conceptual understanding. This improvement is evidenced by various measurement indicators in the reviewed literature, including N-Gain scores in the medium to high categories, as well as significant mean differences. Features like instant feedback and visualization capabilities in game-based media are proven to help students grasp abstract concepts more interactively. In conclusion, GBL has the potential to be an effective alternative learning strategy for strengthening students' mathematical conceptual mastery in secondary schools and is recommended as an alternative learning media in the classroom.

Abstract

Numeracy literacy is the ability to solve everyday problems bay using mathematics to analyze information in the form of numbers, graphs, tables, and other formats, and to draw conclusions. According to the PISA report on mathematical literacy, Indonesia scored 366 out of average score of 476. This study aims to determine students’ numeracy literacy skill based on cybernetic learning theory regarding the SPLTV curriculum among 10th grade students at SMAN 14 Kabupaten Tangerang during the 2025/2026 academic year. The research subjects being students approach used in study is qualitative descriptive, with the research subject being students from classes X.9 and X.10 at SMAN 14 Kabupaten Tangerang using purposive sampling. Ini general, 10th grade students have an average numeracy literacy ability 29%. Most of them face difficulties in writing final answer and conclusions, as well in solving systems of linear equation with three variables. Thus, on average, 10th grade students are unable to meet the three indicators of numeracy literacy ability.
