Abstract

This study aims to develop a plant growth and development module based on local resources for students at SMA Negeri 1 Afulu and to test its validity. The instrument used was a validity questionnaire consisting of didactic criteria, construct validity criteria, technical criteria, and linguistic criteria. The validity questionnaire was evaluated by three experts in their respective fields. The didactic criteria received a score of 89.58%, the construction criteria received a score of 87.87%, the technical criteria received a score of 85.41%, and the language criteria received a score of 89.58%. All validity criteria fell into the “highly valid” category. The plant growth and development module based on local potential has been successfully developed and can increase students’ awareness of the local potential in their area, so that students not only learn but also gain essential values from the learning process.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of the Numbered Heads Together cooperative learning model to enhance eighth grade students understanding of science concepts. The research addresses persistent challenges in traditional science instruction where students demonstrate low engagement and weak conceptual mastery. The method employs classroom action research conducted over two cycles with twenty students from SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara. Data collection instruments include observation sheets, learning quality questionnaires, and essay-based concept understanding tests. Results indicate that cycle one achieved a learning quality score of 74.17 percent and a concept understanding average of 81.71. Cycle two showed improvement with learning quality reaching 82.34 percent and concept understanding averaging 85.50. Student active participation increased from 65.31 percent to 81.25 percent across cycles. The findings demonstrate that structured group discussion combined with individual accountability through random numbering significantly improves both conceptual grasp and classroom engagement. Teachers should integrate this model into routine science instruction to foster active learning and deeper comprehension of scientific principles.

Abstract

Low learning motivation is often the root of the problem of suboptimal student learning outcomes, a condition also found in SMA Negeri 1 Lahusa. This study aims to describe the improvement of learning quality, motivation, and learning outcomes in Biology through the application of the Cooperative Script learning model. Using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, this research was conducted in two cycles on 29 students of Class XI-MIPA-3. Data were collected through observation sheets, questionnaires, learning achievement tests, and interviews, then analyzed quantitatively descriptively. The findings showed a significant increase in all observed variables. In Cycle I, learning quality and learning motivation only reached 64.70% and 67.31% respectively with the "sufficient" category, with an average learning outcome of 71.90. Dramatically, Cycle II showed a progressive leap; learning quality increased to 98.55% and learning motivation to 95.31%, both in the "very good" category, followed by an increase in the average learning outcome to 82.93. These results prove that the implementation of the Cooperative Script model is effectively able to create improvements in the learning process which have direct implications for increasing student motivation and academic achievement.

Abstract

The main problem in this study is the low activity and learning outcomes of students in Integrated Science subjects at SMP Negeri 2 Mandrehe Barat, where the average student score is still below the Minimum Completion Criteria set by the school, namely 55.2. The purpose of this study is to describe the learning process, student learning activities, and student learning outcomes after implementing the Contextual Teaching and Learning strategy. This classroom action research was conducted in class VIII-B semester 1 with a total of 22 students through two learning cycles. The first cycle discussed the material on the human locomotor system while the second cycle discussed the human digestive system. The instruments used included observation sheets for active and inactive students, observation sheets for learning activities, learning outcome tests, and documentation in the form of photos. The results of the study showed a significant increase in all measured indicators. Teacher respondent observations increased from 80.14 percent in cycle I to 92.64 percent in cycle II. Student learning activities increased from 62.90 to 96.75, while student learning outcomes improved from an average of 67.28 with a completion rate of 60.52 percent to 80.67 with a completion rate of 92.10 percent. Significant findings indicate that the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning strategy is effective in improving the quality of Integrated Science learning.
