Abstract

The limited availability of books and the lack of utilization of biology learning media by teachers is one of the serious obstacles in learning activities. This study aims to develop biodiversity learning media. This type of research is research and development using PLOMP development method. This study was tested on the students of Class XI SMA Negeri 1 Telukdalam totaling 20 people. To standardize the product, it is carried out through three stages of testing, namely; validity test, practicality test, and effectiveness test. The instrument used is to distribute the assessment questionnaire using likert scale and evaluation test questions to determine the cognitive learning outcomes of students. The results showed that the scientific-based blogspot media on biodiversity material was very valid with a percentage of 94.7% and feasible to use. The average value of practicalities assessed by teachers (3.6) and students (3.55) is in the category of very practical. The results of student motivation were at 86.18% with an average value of 87.7% improved cognitive learning outcomes compared to the value before using the media with an average score of 57.2 in the sufficient category. Suggestions proposed by researchers are 1) biology subject teachers should be able to use scientific-based blogspot media as a learning medium in the teaching and learning process because it can increase student interest and motivation. 2) through this learning media, hopefully students can broaden their horizons regarding biology learning on biodiversity materials. 3) for further researchers, this scientific-based blogspot media can be used as a reference in relevant research.

Abstract

Artikel ini mendeskripsikan berbagai potensi yang dimiliki oleh aplikasi desain canva dalam bidang pendidikan. Dalam upaya membantu guru sebagai fasilitator dalam pembelajaran, maka penting sekali menguasai atau mahir dalam memanfaatkan teknologi untuk diaplikasikan dalam bentuk media pembelajaran interaktif. Manfaat media pembelajaran, keunggulan aplikasi canva dan juga kepraktisan bagi pemula dalam menampilkan materi pembelajaran yang unik dan kreatif menggunakan aplikasi canva.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan E-LKPD Struktur dan Fungsi Tumbuhan berbasis Higher Order Thinking Skills untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan hasil belajar peserta didik. Penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development) ini menggunakan metode pengembangan ADDIE. Penelitian ini diujicobakan pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Lahewa yang berjumlah 30 orang. Standarisasi produk dilakukan dengan tiga tahap uji, yaitu: uji validitas, uji praktikalitas, dan uji efektifitas. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa angket penilaian serta soal tes evaluasi untuk mengetahui hasil belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran ini sangat valid dengan presentase 95,31 % dan layak digunakan. Nilai rata-rata praktikalitas yang dinilai oleh guru 3,72 dan siswa 3,57 berada pada kategori sangat praktis. Hasil motivasi siswa berada pada 86,79% dengan rata-rata nilai hasil belajar kognitif 83,82 dibandingkan dengan sebelum menggunakan media dengan rata-rata 56,68. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini maka E-LKPD Struktur dan Fungsi Tumbuhan berbasis Higher Order Thinking Skills dinyatakan dapat meningkatkan motivasi dan hasil belajar siswa. Produk yang dihasilkan digolongkan kedalam bahan ajar yang valid, praktis dan efektif.

Abstract

This article discussed the important role of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in the learning process. Critical thinking skills, creative, and problem-solving skills in the 21st century is essential to prepare competent young generation. Despite the rapid development of technology, Indonesia's PISA score is still very low. Improving the curriculum by prioritizing the development of HOTS-based skills can be a solution to deal with this phenomenon. The method which used in conducting this article is the literature study method. This method is used in collecting data, analyzing, and synthesizing the findings by specifying the topic of the role of HOTS in the learning process. The conclusion is that the integration of HOTS in learning is the key to preparing students who are able to think critically, creatively and solve problems that encountered in their environment.

Abstract

Education is a planned effort to create an ideal learning environment. The learning and assessment process is an integral part of achieving basic competencies in the curriculum. However, traditional measurements such as national exams do not always reflect students' talents and the actual quality of education. This article proposes the use of authentic assessment as a solution to measure real student learning outcomes, which also reveal students' real abilities that can be applied in real life. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach and source triangulation techniques to evaluate the principles and role of authentic assessment in learning. Authentic assessment principles include holistic measurement and various aspects of learning, as well as using various methods and sources. Authentic assessment plays an important role in improving the teaching-learning process and improving student learning outcomes by encouraging conceptual understanding, problem solving, and application of knowledge in real contexts. Additionally, authentic assessments provide feedback that allows students to improve the quality of their learning. Authentic assessment is expected to change the educational paradigm to be more student-oriented and increase the relevance of learning to real life.

Abstract

The Nias tribe as a society that is diverse in culture and biodiversity in it holds various phenomena that we need to explore. It is known that the community, especially in South Nias, utilizes many plants as handicraft materials. We conducted this research with the aim of knowing the types of local plants used as handicraft materials and how to process them. The method we used was a qualitative method using data collection techniques such as; observation, structured interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Based on the results and findings of the research conducted, there are around nine types of plants that are utilized by the people of South Nias as handicraft materials. We conclude that the study of ethnobotany as a handicraft material for the people of South Nias has become an ancestral tradition and is a hereditary legacy.

Abstract

Keberadaan tanaman Araceae yang tersebar luas di wilayah kabupaten Nias Selatan menjadi salah satu kekayaan flora yang sangat bernilai. Identitas dari tanaman ini masih belum dikenal karena keragaman jenis tumbuhan ini sangat banyak dan pembudiayaan masih kurang. Tujuan pengidentifikasian ialah untuk mengetahui keragaman dan hubungan kekerabatan fenetik antara anggota spesies Araceae berdasarkan karakter morfologi. Dalam mengidentifikasi, parameter yang digunakan ialah ciri morfologi dari akar, batang, daun, buah dan biji. Metode pengambilan sampel yang digunakan ialah purposive sampling dengan menggunakan analisis dank unci determinasi, morfometrik dan meristic, serta indeks similaritas dan disimilaritas. Hasil pengidentifikasian menunjukkan bahwa ada 6 kombinasi spesies yang memiliki kombinasi kekerabatan sangat dekat dengan nilai IS=0,92 sampai dengan 0,78 dan ID=8 sampai dengan 22. Sebaliknya terdapat 7 kombinasi spesies kekerabatan tidak dekat dengan nilai IS=0,50 sampai dengan 0,42 dengan ID=50 sampai dengan 54. Terdapat 10 spesies tumbuhan Araceae yang ditemukan di kawasan kabupaten Nias Selatan, yaitu Talas darat (Colocasia esculenta), Talas kimpu hitam (Xanthosoma sagittifolium), Keladi merah (Caladium bicolor), Sri rejeki (Aglaonema crispum), Keladi tikus (typonium flageforme), Janda bolong (monster adansonii), Keladi army look (Caladium sp), Talas ungu (Colacasia esculenta). Dengan mengetahui keragaman dan kerabatan antara aggota spesies Araceae, masyarakat luas dapat mengetahui kekerabatan anta spesies berdasarkan karakteristiknya dan juga semakin sadar pentingnya membudidayakan tanaman Aracea sebagai upaya pelestarian berkelanjutan

Abstract

This article aims to explore the opportunities of optimizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in supporting adaptive, inclusive, and innovative learning in the Society 5.0 era. With its potential to revolutionize education through content personalization, responsive learning, and administrative efficiency, AI is the key to future education transformation. The research approach is qualitative through literature analysis and case studies, covering the implementation of AI in adaptive learning, educational chatbots, and virtual reality technology. The researcher's review of several studies revealed that AI not only eases the administrative burden on teachers, but also provides individually tailored learning plans and improves students' digital literacy. However, the integration of AI in education faces challenges such as resistance to change and disparities in access to technology. To overcome these challenges, the development of inclusive policies as well as AI-based training for educators is recommended, thus ensuring the ethical and effective application of technology, in line with the humanistic and future-oriented vision of Society 5.0.

Abstract

GenAI has currently been widely integrated into learning in secondary schools, as it is considered to provide the potential to enhance the learning experience for students. However, using GenAI in secondary school settings remains controversial, as its benefits coexist with significant ethical, social, and educational challenges. This review critically examines the role of GenAI in secondary school education, assessing current applications, potential educational benefits, and unique challenges. Through the exploration of case studies and empirical research, the researcher highlights key areas where GenAI can enhance learning while presenting possible drawbacks and ethical dilemmas. The researcher concludes by suggesting guidelines for the responsible integration of GenAI in secondary school education, aiming to capitalize on its potential while addressing critical risks.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes in various aspects of life, including education. In biology learning, digital technology offers innovative solutions to overcome challenges in understanding abstract concepts, increase learning motivation, and develop 21st century skills. Interactive simulations, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and online learning platforms allow students to visualize complex biological concepts, such as photosynthesis and DNA replication, more clearly and deeply. In addition, the integration of digital technology can improve students' critical thinking skills, creativity, collaboration and digital literacy. However, the implementation of digital technology in biology learning faces various challenges, including limited infrastructure, access gaps between urban and rural schools, and lack of training for educators. This study aims to explore the impact of digital technology on students' conceptual understanding and 21st century skills, and identify the main barriers to its implementation. The results of this study are expected to provide recommendations for the development of more effective and innovative biology learning strategies in the digital era
