Abstract

An appropriate learning approach plays a strategic role in enhancing the quality of education, particularly in developing 21st-century skills. However, many educators still employ conventional methods that inadequately support active and meaningful learning. This study aims to: (1) identify the implementation of Project Based Learning (PjBL) in third-grade Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) at SD No. 1 Petang Badung; (2) examine challenges and strategies for overcoming them; and (3) analyze the impact of PjBL on student learning outcomes. The study draws on constructivism (Jean Piaget), behaviorism (Ivan Petrovic Pavlov), and learning motivation (Abraham Maslow) theories. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and literature review, then analyzed descriptively using a qualitative approach. The findings indicate that the implementation of PjBL enhances teachers’ creativity in lesson planning and fosters student independence, responsibility, and active engagement. Despite challenges such as limited time and resources, corrective strategies proved effective in mitigating these obstacles. The study concludes that the PjBL model holds significant potential to optimize IPAS learning at the elementary education level, particularly in cultivating contextual and problem-solving learning skills.

Abstract

The focus of this research is motivated by the low reading literacy skills of first-grade students at SD No. 2 Dalung. Based on field observations, a phenomenon was discovered where most students still face obstacles in distinguishing similar letter shapes, experience difficulty pronouncing consonantvowel combinations, and show low enthusiasm toward conventional learning media. The objective of this quantitative research, which employs a Quasi-Experimental design, is to determine the effectiveness of "Roda Baca" as a learning tool for reading. The participants consisted of 56 first-grade students at SD No. 2 Dalung, divided into a control group and an experimental group. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and pre-test and post-test assessments. The data were analyzed using the Independent Samples T-Test with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics 23.Data collection techniques included observation, documentation, and pretest and post-test instruments.  The collected data were analyzed using the Independent Sample T-Test via IBM SPSS Statistics 23 software.

Abstract

Learning interest is a crucial factor influencing student success in the learning process. However, in the Pancasila subject, fourth-grade students at SD No. 2 Sedang Abiansemal, Badung, still show low levels of student interest, demonstrated by a lack of attention, participation, and enthusiasm. This study aims to analyze the factors contributing to low student interest, describe the application of crossword puzzles to enhance learning interest, and analyze the implications of crossword puzzles for the Pancasila subject. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach grounded in Constructivist Theory and Learning Interest Theory. The subjects consisted of teachers and fourth-grade students. Data collection techniques included observation, structured interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that low student interest in learning is influenced by internal and external factors. The application of crossword puzzles actively engages students in the learning process. The use of this media has positive implications for increasing student attention, participation, enthusiasm, and interest in Pancasila. Abstract

Learning motivation is an important factor influencing students' learning achievement. The implementation of innovative learning models supported by technology is expected to improve students' motivation, particularly in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by gadgets on students' learning motivation at SD Saraswati 2 Denpasar. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 49 fifth-grade students, including 25 students in the experimental class and 24 students in the control class. Data were collected using a learning motivation questionnaire that had passed validity and reliability testing. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality test, homogeneity test, and Independent Sample t-test. The findings indicated that the average learning motivation score of the experimental class increased from 73.64 to 80.32, while the control class increased from 71.00 to 74.88. The Independent Sample t-test showed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.004 (<0.05), indicating that the Problem Based Learning model assisted by gadgets had a significant effect on students' learning motivation. Therefore, the implementation of the PBL model assisted by gadgets can be used as an alternative learning model to improve elementary school students' learning motivation in IPAS.
