Abstract

Islamic education views fitrah as the primary foundation for shaping a person’s character. This fitrah encompasses various elements, such as the desire to know God and to worship Him. The core objective of this article is to explore these profound differences in order to establish an educational paradigm that is appropriate, balanced, and respectful of humanity. The method used is library research, utilizing existing sources such as books, journals, encyclopedias, papers, articles, and documents. The research findings indicate that the concept of fitrah in Islam is related to the theories of nativism, empiricism, and convergence in explaining human development. Nativism emphasizes innate factors present from birth, empiricism focuses on environmental influences, while convergence combines both factors. The concept of fitrah acknowledges the existence of human potential as well as the importance of the role of the environment and education in developing that potential. However, fitrah has a broader scope because it also considers freedom of choice, individual effort, moral responsibility, and Allah’s guidance. Thus, the concept of fitrah provides a more complete and comprehensive understanding of the formation of human personality from an Islamic educational perspective.

Abstract

Scholarly discussions have frequently addressed moral cultivation within pesantren settings. Nevertheless, axiological interpretations of santri formation at PPTQ Al Husna Baki have received relatively little attention. This inquiry investigates how value-oriented religious pedagogy shapes santri dispositions and maps the principles embedded in their routine communal activities. A naturalistic single-site design with a descriptive-interpretive orientation was adopted. The information sources comprised a religious-studies instructor, several ustadzah, and female administrators selected according to the relevance of their knowledge. Empirical material was generated from in-depth conversations, direct field engagement, and the examination of institutional records. It was subsequently processed by isolating essential information, organizing recurring patterns, and formulating interpretive inferences. The findings reveal that axiological commitments are enacted through instructional activities, structured routines, exemplary conduct, and consolidation of a pesantren ethos rooted in religious principles. These mechanisms strengthen piety, orderliness, integrity, accountability, self-reliance, and social sensitivity among santri. This inquiry broadens discussions of Islamic educational axiology by demonstrating the formative significance of consistently embedding religious principles in institutional routines and interpersonal practices.

Abstract

Revelation and prophethood are two important concepts in Islam that serve as the primary foundation for shaping the Islamic worldview. Both function not only as theological foundations but also as guidelines for understanding knowledge, reality, values, and the purpose of life. This article aims to explore revelation and prophethood from an Islamic perspective and to explain their impact on the development of the Islamic worldview amid the challenges of modern thought. This study adopts a qualitative approach using a literature review method that includes conceptual and thematic analysis, as well as critical synthesis of primary sources such as the Qur’an and Sunnah, and secondary sources including the works of classical and modern scholars and relevant scholarly articles. The findings of this study indicate that revelation in Islam is a legitimate form of divine communication between Allah SWT and His prophets and messengers. Prophethood, or nubuwwah, serves as a divine institution that connects Allah with humankind. Both revelation and prophethood are interrelated and inseparable. Revelation provides the content in the form of divine guidance, while prophethood provides the context in the form of the prophet’s personality as a model for the implementation of revelation. The concepts of revelation and prophethood have very broad and profound implications for the Islamic worldview, encompassing epistemological, ontological, ethical-legal, and historical dimensions, as well as the relationship between science and religion.
