Abstract

The global agricultural landscape is undergoing a paradigm shift toward "Agriculture 4.0," where data-driven decisions replace traditional intuition. This transformation is underpinned by the integration of sensor technology and the Internet of Things (IoT). This article presents a comprehensive systematic literature review (SLR) of research published between 2017 and 2022, focusing on the technical nuances of sensors, network architectures, and their socio-economic impacts. By analyzing over 20 key publications, the study identifies a transition from resistive to capacitive sensing technologies and the dominance of LPWAN protocols in large-scale farming. The findings highlight that IoT integration leads to a 30-40% increase in productivity and a significant reduction in resource waste. This review provides a strategic roadmap for implementing smart farming solutions, emphasizing the need for infrastructure development and digital literacy in developing economies like Indonesia..
