Abstract

Falls remain one of the most frequent health concerns among older adults, often affecting mobility, independence, and overall well-being. Limited understanding of fall risk factors may increase the likelihood of accidents and reduce participation in daily activities. This community service activity was conducted to improve older adults’ knowledge of fall prevention, safe movement, mobility maintenance, and productive aging. The program took place on June 2, 2026, at RPTRA Masudela, Sawah Besar District, Central Jakarta, and involved 30 female participants aged 60–68 years. The activity consisted of health education sessions, interactive discussions, balance and mobility exercise demonstrations, and knowledge assessments using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. Participants received information on common causes of falls, preventive strategies in everyday life, and the importance of maintaining physical activity in later years. Following the intervention, participants showed a noticeable improvement in their understanding of the topics presented. The average knowledge score increased from 62 before the activity to 88 after the intervention. In addition, more participants achieved good and very good knowledge categories in the post-test assessment. These results suggest that combining health education with practical exercise demonstrations can be an effective approach to increasing awareness of fall prevention and encouraging active aging among older adults.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the leading non-communicable diseases contributing to high morbidity and mortality rates in Indonesia. Natural management of hypertension through lifestyle modifications and the consumption of healthy foods is increasingly favored as a complementary therapy. Cucumber juice is known to contain active compounds with the potential to lower blood pressure. This community service program aimed to provide education and introduce cucumber juice as a natural alternative for reducing blood pressure among individuals with hypertension in Ciomas, Bogor. A total of 40 hypertensive participants took part in activities that included educational sessions, demonstrations on how to prepare cucumber juice, and blood pressure measurements before and after the intervention. The results showed an average decrease of 14.8 mmHg in systolic blood pressure and 8.4 mmHg in diastolic blood pressure after consuming cucumber juice for seven consecutive days. Additionally, participants' knowledge regarding hypertension and the benefits of cucumber juice significantly improved, as evidenced by pre-test and post-test assessments. This activity demonstrates that cucumber juice can serve as an effective natural alternative to help lower blood pressure, and highlights the importance of education in raising public awareness about hypertension management. Further research with a larger sample size and extended duration is recommended to validate these findings.

Abstract

Ergonomics plays an important role in maintaining workers' health and comfort in daily work activities. Informal sector and micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) workers in Indonesia bear a high burden of musculoskeletal complaints due to non ergonomic work postures and limited access to occupational health programs. This study aimed to map ergonomic interventions for reducing musculoskeletal complaints applied to informal sector and MSME workers in Indonesia through a scoping review approach. The search process used the Population, Concept, Context (PCC) framework through the PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and Indonesian regional databases, with articles published between 2014 and 2026. The selection and reporting process was carried out using the PRISMA-ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews) method. Results: from 25 identified articles, 5 articles met the criteria and were selected in this review. The five articles discussed interventions on batik craftswomen, garment tailors, traditional metal-casting workers, food processing MSME workers, and garment MSME tailors. Ergonomic interventions applied included ergonomic chairs, participatory ergonomics, and workplace stretching exercise. All studies reported reduced musculoskeletal complaints following intervention, with effect sizes ranging from 24.98% to 48.6%. Conclusion: simple, low-cost ergonomic interventions can be applied to informal sector and MSME workers in Indonesia to reduce musculoskeletal complaints, although available evidence remains dominated by uncontrolled quasi-experimental designs.

Abstract

Work-related fatigue is an occupational health problem that affects workers' productivity, safety, and well-being; however, evidence regarding the effectiveness of core exercise in reducing it remains scattered and has not been comprehensively synthesized. This study aims to analyze and synthesize scientific evidence on the effectiveness of core exercise in reducing work-related fatigue among workers through a systematic review method referring to the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. The literature search was planned to be conducted in the PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar databases using the PICOS framework, limited to primary experimental or quasi-experimental articles published between 2015 and 2025 in Indonesian and English. A preliminary search identified two studies that met the inclusion criteria, involving hospital nurses and factory workers, both of which reported a statistically significant reduction in work-related fatigue following core exercise or core stability exercise, with a training dose pattern of three times per week for six to eight weeks. Because of the limited number of studies at this stage, the synthesis is presented narratively and the conclusions are considered preliminary. These initial results indicate that core exercise has the potential to become an evidence-based intervention for reducing work-related fatigue; however, a formal literature search across all planned databases remains necessary to strengthen the evidence before it can be widely recommended in physiotherapy and occupational health practice.
