Abstract

Stunting, defined as a growth disorder in children under five caused by chronic malnutrition, remains a significant public health challenge in Indonesia (Bahrun & Wildan, 2022). The high prevalence of stunting impacts children’s physical growth, cognitive development, and future quality of life (Sutarto et al., 2018). This study aims to provide an overview of the role of nutrition in preventing stunting, with a focus on supplementary feeding (PMT) as an effective nutritional intervention. The method employed involved providing guidance to families with stunted infants on providing supplementary food appropriate to the child’s nutritional needs. The guidance activities included education on the importance of balanced nutrition, providing sample menus for supplementary feeding based on local food ingredients, and monitoring changes in feeding practices for the children. The main results of the activities showed an increase in mothers’ or caregivers’ knowledge regarding nutrition and stunting, positive changes in supplementary feeding practices, and improvements in children’s health and growth and development. The conclusion of this study is that continuous mentoring is a crucial strategy in supporting the accelerated reduction of stunting in Indonesia

Abstract

Stunting, as a chronic nutritional problem, remains a significant public health challenge in Indonesia, particularly among toddlers. This condition is characterized by impaired linear growth caused by prolonged malnutrition. In Cempaka Putih Subdistrict, based on field observations, toddlers with undernutrition and stunting are still found. Additionally, mothers’ limited understanding of providing nutritious complementary foods (PMT) is a major concern. Therefore, this community service activity aims to improve mothers’ knowledge regarding balanced nutrition and stunting prevention through guidance on providing complementary foods. The methods used included interactive education sessions, guidance on the provision of supplementary feeding, and anthropometric examinations. The results of the activity showed a 45% increase in mothers’ knowledge, improvements in growth among some toddlers, and the conclusion that community-based guidance is effective in supporting stunting prevention

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of diabetes mellitus in Indonesia has prompted the need for healthier alternative carbohydrate sources with a lower glycemic index (GI) than white rice. Cassava is a local food with potential as an alternative carbohydrate source. However, processing methods such as boiling, steaming, and frying can affect starch structure and blood glucose response, thus impacting the food's glycemic index. Objective:To compare the glycemic index values of steamed, boiled, and fried cassava as an alternative carbohydrate source to replace white rice. Methods:This was an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 10 healthy adult respondents aged 17–25 years selected using consecutive sampling. Respondents fasted for 10–12 hours prior to the examination. Blood glucose levels were measured using a finger prick test at 0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, and 120 minutes after consuming the test foods (fried, steamed, and boiled cassava) equivalent to 50 g of carbohydrates and a reference food containing 50 g of pure glucose. The glycemic index (GI) was calculated based on the ratio of the area under the curve (IAUC) between the test foods and the reference foods. Results:The results showed that the processing method influenced the blood glucose response and glycemic index of cassava. Fried cassava had a glycemic index of 14.63 (low category), steamed cassava 43 (low category), and boiled cassava 83 (high category). Fried cassava had the lowest GI, while boiled cassava had the highest. Conclusion:Processing method influenced the glycemic index of cassava. Frying and steaming methods resulted in lower glycemic index values than boiling. Therefore, the selection of cassava processing methods needs to be considered in efforts to control blood glucose levels.

Abstract

Nutritional problems remain a significant public health issue in Indonesia, particularly among vulnerable groups such as infants, toddlers, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers. Various nutritional indicators indicate a persistently high burden of malnutrition, despite a downward trend in recent years. The national prevalence of stunting among toddlers was recorded at 19.8% in 2024, although still higher than the national target of <14% at the end of the 2024–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN). Wasting and underweight also remain challenges, at approximately 7.4% and 16.8%, respectively, in children under five. Furthermore, anemia and chronic energy deficiency in pregnant women continue to contribute to the risk of low birth weight.Complementary nutrition services, as a nutritional intervention strategy, play a crucial role in meeting additional nutritional needs through planning, organizing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating. The implementation of integrated service management involving cross-sectoral collaboration, community empowerment, and utilization of local food resources increases service effectiveness and program coverage. The use of an integrated approach also significantly increased energy and protein intake in malnourished toddlers in a quasi-experimental study (n=140), showing significant increases in energy (difference-in-differences [DID] = 405.53 kcal; p<0.001) and protein (DID = 4.62 g; p<0.001). This model has the potential to improve the nutritional status of the community sustainably if implemented consistently and in a coordinated manner.

Abstract

Indonesia still faces serious challenges related to nutrition problems in children, with the prevalence of stunting still high. Quality Complementary Feeding of Breast Milk (MP-ASI) plays a crucial role in supporting the optimal growth and development of toddlers. However, many mothers have difficulty in providing MP-ASI that meets nutritional standards, due to a lack of knowledge, limited resources, and limited access to information. Posyandu cadres as the spearhead of public health services have a central role in providing education and assistance to mothers under five. However, they often face limited knowledge and access to adequate information related to nutrition. This research aims to empower Posyandu cadres through the implementation of a complementary nutrition information system. The methods used include intensive training, mentoring, and the development of a web-based information system that is easy to access and use. The results of the study showed a significant increase in the knowledge and skills of cadres about nutrition, as well as an improvement in the quality of MP-ASI provided by mothers under five. Information systems have proven to be effective in facilitating knowledge transfer, facilitating access to information, and improving the efficiency of cadres' work. The conclusion of this study is that the empowerment of Posyandu cadres through a complementary nutrition information system is an effective strategy to improve the quality of MP-ASI and ultimately contribute to reducing stunting and improving the quality of human resources in Indonesia. Recommendations include expanding the implementation of information systems in various regions, improving training and mentoring of cadres, and developing more comprehensive information content.

Abstract

Obesity is a growing global health problem, including in Indonesia. The prevalence of adult obesity in Indonesia reached 23.4% in 2023, demonstrating the urgency of healthy food-based interventions (Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, 2023; ([www.jpnn.com][1])). A high-carbohydrate, low-fiber diet is a major contributing factor to the increase in obesity, particularly in urban areas such as Tangerang City. This study aims to develop innovative low-carbohydrate snacks based on local foods as an alternative to obesity prevention. The method used was an experimental study with a recipe formulation approach using local ingredients such as modified cassava flour, nuts, and high-fiber vegetables. The results showed that the developed low-carbohydrate snacks have a lower energy content and more balanced nutritional value than conventional snacks. Furthermore, this innovation has the potential to be accepted by the community because it uses familiar and economical local ingredients. Thus, the development of healthy snacks based on local foods can be a preventive strategy to reduce the prevalence of obesity in Tangerang City.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medicine has traditionally functioned as a passive decision-support tool that provides recommendations without autonomous action. The emergence of Agentic AI introduces a new paradigm in which AI systems can plan, execute, and self-correct tasks, creating a shift toward more collaborative human–machine interaction. However, existing literature remains fragmented, with technical development, multi-agent coordination, and ethical governance often discussed separately. This systematic review aims to synthesize current evidence on Agentic AI in medicine by examining autonomous architectures, multi-agent collaboration, clinical validation, ethical challenges, and future implementation barriers. The study followed the PRISMA 2020 framework and employed thematic narrative synthesis of 34 primary studies identified from major academic databases. The findings indicate that orchestrator-based multi-agent architectures integrated with large language models and retrieval-augmented generation represent the dominant approach in medical Agentic AI development. However, real-world clinical validation remains limited, with most studies still focusing on simulations and proof-of-concept evaluations. Furthermore, ethical and governance studies represented the largest research category, highlighting concerns regarding accountability, transparency, and human oversight. This review concludes that the future adoption of Agentic AI requires simultaneous advancement of technical capabilities and governance frameworks, supported by evaluation approaches that consider accuracy, computational efficiency, clinical safety, and human control.
