Abstract

This study aims to analyze consumer responses to rising clothing prices ahead of Eid al-Fitr in Palangka Raya City. The focus is on how consumers cope with seasonal inflation and the strategies they employ in making purchasing decisions. The study employs a qualitative approach using field research methods, including interviews, observations, and data triangulation. The results indicate that price increases are perceived as a normal annual phenomenon, yet they still prompt consumers to make adjustments such as comparing prices, taking advantage of promotions, and prioritizing family needs. These findings confirm that economic, social, and cultural factors play a role in shaping consumption behavior ahead of Eid al-Fitr. This study has practical implications for merchants and policymakers. Merchants are expected to set prices fairly and transparently and provide promotions relevant to consumer needs, while policymakers need to strengthen market oversight and maintain price stability to protect the purchasing power of the public particularly low- and middle income groups from the impact of seasonal inflation

Abstract

Introduction: Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) has become a prominent phenomenon among Generation Z, particularly in fashion consumption through TikTok Shop. Previous studies have primarily examined the relationship between FOMO and consumer behavior quantitatively, while limited research has explored how FOMO shapes consumer lifestyles through subjective experiences in digital environments. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the role of FOMO in the formation of Generation Z’s consumer lifestyle in fashion consumption on TikTok Shop. Research Methods: This study employed a qualitative field research approach involving 15 Generation Z university students at Universitas Islam Negeri Palangka Raya who actively use TikTok and have purchased fashion products through TikTok Shop. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using inductive descriptive analysis. Results: The findings indicate that FOMO emerges through repeated exposure to viral fashion content, social comparison with peers and influencers, and concerns about being left behind in trends. These experiences encourage impulsive purchasing decisions and normalize online shopping habits. Fashion consumption is increasingly driven by the desire for social recognition, self-expression, and digital identity construction rather than functional needs alone. Conclusion: FOMO plays a significant role in shaping the consumer lifestyle of Generation Z on TikTok Shop. Fashion consumption functions not only as an economic activity but also as a means of gaining social recognition and maintaining relevance in digital communities. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening digital and financial literacy to encourage more rational consumption behavior among Generation Z.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of low wages for contract teachers from the perspective of the ijarah contract and Islamic economic distributive justice, as well as to identify forms of structural injustice within the education system. The study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review. The data sources consist of 40 scientific articles obtained from the Google Scholar, Sinta, and DOAJ databases, focusing on the welfare of honorary teachers, remuneration, the ijarah contract, and distributive justice. Data collection was conducted through systematic literature review, while data analysis employed content analysis with a descriptive-analytical approach, following the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results indicate that the low ujrah for contract teachers not only impacts their economic well-being but also has the potential to affect the overall quality of education. In many cases, the practice of paying honoraria to contract teachers has not fully aligned with the principles of the ijarah contract, particularly regarding aspects of justice, wage adequacy, and the principle of taradhi. Furthermore, the distribution of welfare within the education system reveals disparities between civil servant (ASN) and non-ASN teachers, reflecting the suboptimal implementation of distributive justice. The implications of this study underscore the importance of reformulating wage policies and labor protections for honorary teachers that are fairer, more proportional, and in line with Islamic economic principles to support teachers’ welfare and improve the quality of education.
