Abstract

Background : Obstetric and neonatal emergencies require rapid , accurate , and standardized management to prevent maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality . Midwives , as frontline healthcare providers in primary care settings , play an important role in recognizing emergency signs , providing initial management , stabilizing patients , and facilitating timely referral . Obstetrics and Neonatal Emergency Management Training (PPGD-ON) is an important strategy to improve midwives ' competencies and practical skills in managing emergency situations. Objective : To analyze the effectiveness of PPGD-ON training on the skills of midwives at a Primary Health Center. Methods : This study employed a quasi-experimental one-group pretest – posttest design . The sample consisted of 30 midwives selected using total sampling. Midwives ' skills were assessed before and after the training using an observational checklist for obstetric and neonatal emergency management . The two-day training consisted of theoretical sessions , discussions , demonstrations , and practical simulations . Data were analyzed using the paired t- test with a significance level of 0.05. Results : The mean skills score increased from 61.87 ± 8.24 before the training to 82.63 ± 6.71 after the training . The paired t- test demonstrated statistically significant difference between pre-training and post-training skills scores (p < 0.001). Conclusion : PPGD-ON training was effective in improving midwives ' skills in managing obstetric and neonatal emergencies . Regular competency-based training is recommended to maintain and improve midwives ' emergency management skills in primary healthcare settings

Abstract

Background : High-risk pregnancy is a pregnancy condition associated with a higher probability of maternal and fetus complications compared with normal pregnancy . Early identification of risk factors is essential to ensure appropriate monitoring and management. Objective : To analyze risk factors associated with high-risk pregnancy among pregnant women. Methods : This study used a retrospective case-control design . The sample consisted of 50 pregnant women divided into 25 cases of high-risk pregnancy and 25 controls of low-risk pregnancy . Participants were selected using purposive sampling. Risk factors analyzed included maternal age , parity , pregnancy interval, history of obstetric complications , anemia, hypertension , comorbidities , and nutritional status. Data were collected using observation sheets and medical records . Bivariate analysis was performed using the Chi- square test and Odds Ratio (OR), with a significance level of α=0.05. Results : The analysis showed significant associations between high-risk pregnancy and risky maternal age (OR=3.75; p=0.038), risky parity (OR=3.67; p=0.045), risky pregnancy interval (OR=4.13; p=0.025), history of obstetric complications (OR=4.57; p=0.018), anemia (OR=3.86; p=0.032), hypertension (OR=5.17; p=0.014), comorbidities (OR=3.86; p=0.032), and poor nutritional status (OR=3.33; p=0.049). Conclusion : Maternal age , parity , pregnancy interval, history of obstetric complications , anemia, hypertension , comorbidities , and nutritional status were associated with high-risk pregnancy . Early detection and continuous monitoring of risk factors are important to prevent pregnancy complications.

Abstract

Background : Adequate consumption of vegetables and fruits is an important component of a healthy diet. Low consumption May be associated with inadequate fiber and micronutrient intake and an increased risk of nutritional problems . WHO recommends adults consume at at least 400 grams of vegetables and fruits per day . Objective : This study aimed to determine the relationship between vegetables and fruit consumption and nutritional status among adults . Methods : This quantitative analytical study used a cross-sectional design . The sample consisted of 92 adults selected using purposive sampling. Vegetable and fruit consumption was assessed using a structured food frequency questionnaire , while nutritional status was determined based on body mass index . Data were analyzed using the Chi- Square test with a significance level of 0.05. Results : Of of the 92 respondents , 38 (41.3%) had adequate vegetables and fruit consumption , while 54 (58.7%) were inadequate consumption . A total of 59 respondents (64.1%) had normal nutritional status, 21 (22.8%) were overweight , and 12 (13.1%) were obese . Statistics analysis showed a significant relationship between vegetables and fruit consumption and nutritional status (p=0.021). Conclusion : Vegetable and fruit consumption was significantly associated with nutritional status among adults . Increasing vegetables and fruit consumption as part of a balanced diet may contribute to maintenance healthy nutritional status.
