Abstract

Background. Pre-modern texts constitute a foundational archive of cultural memory through which societies transmit values, identities, and historical consciousness across generations. In contemporary society, these texts are increasingly reinterpreted to address present concerns, revealing dynamic interactions between historical continuity and modern cultural frameworks. Purpose. This study aims to examine how cultural memory embedded in pre-modern texts is reinterpreted in contemporary contexts and how such reinterpretations contribute to the negotiation of historical continuity and social meaning. Method. The study employs a qualitative interpretative approach using textual and contextual analysis informed by cultural memory studies, hermeneutics, and historical criticism. Selected pre-modern texts and their contemporary reinterpretations are analyzed through close reading to identify shifts in meaning, narrative emphasis, and cultural function. Results. The findings indicate that contemporary reinterpretations do not merely preserve pre-modern texts but actively reframe them to respond to current social, ethical, and cultural challenges. Cultural memory functions as a selective and adaptive process, enabling continuity while allowing reinterpretation, transformation, and critique of inherited traditions. Conclusion. This study concludes that the reinterpretation of pre-modern texts plays a crucial role in sustaining historical continuity by transforming cultural memory into a living resource. Such processes reaffirm the relevance of historical texts in contemporary society while reshaping collective understanding of the past.

Abstract

Selective logging is a prevalent forest management practice aimed at balancing timber production and conservation. However, its effects on forest structure and function remain a topic of significant concern. This study aims to evaluate the impact of selective logging on the biodiversity, biomass, and ecological functions of forest ecosystems. We employed a comparative analysis method, where forest plots subjected to selective logging were compared to undisturbed control plots. Data were collected on tree species diversity, density, and biomass, alongside assessments of soil health and microclimate conditions. Our findings indicate that selective logging significantly alters forest structure by reducing tree density and species diversity, leading to an overall decline in biomass. Additionally, changes in soil composition and moisture levels were observed, negatively affecting the forest's ecological functions. The results underscore the importance of adopting sustainable logging practices that mitigate adverse effects on forest ecosystems. In conclusion, while selective logging can provide economic benefits, its detrimental impacts on forest structure and function necessitate careful management and monitoring to preserve biodiversity and ecosystem health.

Abstract

The growing global emphasis on sustainable development has prompted renewed interest in aligning the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with Islamic legal and ethical principles. This study explores the conceptual integration of the SDGs within the framework of Maqasid al-Shari‘a (the higher objectives of Islamic law), focusing on how Islamic economic law can operationalize sustainability through justice, equity, and human welfare. The research aims to construct a normative and practical framework that harmonizes the ethical imperatives of Maqasid al-Shari‘a with the multidimensional targets of the SDGs, particularly in areas of poverty alleviation, environmental protection, and social inclusion. A qualitative doctrinal approach is employed, combining textual analysis of classical Islamic legal sources with comparative evaluation of contemporary economic policies and global sustainability reports. The findings indicate that Maqasid al-Shari‘a naturally aligns with SDG principles through shared values such as preservation of life, intellect, wealth, lineage, and faith, forming a moral foundation for sustainable economic governance. The proposed framework demonstrates that integrating SDGs into Islamic legal thought can strengthen policy legitimacy, bridge ethical and developmental paradigms, and foster a holistic model for modern Islamic economic law.

Abstract

Background. In the context of increasingly diverse classrooms, Canadian schools face both the challenge and opportunity of fostering inclusive learning environments through multicultural education. As technology becomes more integrated into pedagogy, its role in addressing linguistic, cultural, and social differences gains prominence. Purpose. This study explores how educators in Canadian schools utilize digital tools to support multicultural education and promote equity among students from diverse backgrounds. The research aims to identify effective strategies, tools, and practices that enhance cultural inclusivity and student engagement through technology-enhanced instruction. Method. A qualitative multiple-case study approach was employed, involving interviews with 28 teachers, classroom observations across six schools, and analysis of institutional technology integration plans. Results. The findings indicate that technology, when used intentionally, facilitates culturally responsive teaching through language support apps, collaborative platforms, and digital storytelling tools. However, the study also reveals disparities in access, digital literacy, and institutional readiness, which hinder equitable outcomes. Conclusion. The study concludes that leveraging technology for multicultural education requires not only pedagogical innovation but also systemic support, teacher training, and inclusive design principles. These insights offer practical implications for educators and policymakers seeking to enhance diversity and inclusion in digital learning environments.

Abstract

Background. The rapid growth of online learning platforms has significantly impacted educational practices globally, particularly in enhancing student learning motivation. Purpose. This study explores the effect of utilizing online learning platforms on students’ motivation to learn, considering their engagement, learning strategies, and academic performance. The primary aim of this research is to analyze how the use of such platforms influences students’ intrinsic and extrinsic motivation within the context of various educational settings. Method. This study adopts a quantitative research approach, using surveys and questionnaires administered to a sample of students from different educational institutions. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential analysis to determine the relationship between online learning platform usage and students’ motivation levels. Results. The findings reveal a positive correlation between online learning platform usage and increased motivation, particularly in terms of fostering self-regulation, engagement, and a greater sense of autonomy in learning. Students reported higher motivation to participate in lessons and complete assignments when using these platforms. Conclusion. In conclusion, integrating online learning platforms into traditional education methods can significantly enhance students’ learning motivation, supporting both their academic success and personal growth. Future studies should focus on long-term effects and the comparative benefits of different platforms.

Abstract

Background. The increasing complexity of 21st-century education, driven by rapid technological change, diverse student needs, and continuous policy reform, has exposed significant limitations in conventional teacher professional development models. Many programs remain compliance-oriented and fail to cultivate deep reflective practice, resulting in minimal impact on long-term instructional improvement. This growing gap highlights the urgent need for alternative approaches, with personal narrative-based reflection emerging as a promising strategy to enhance teachers’ self-awareness, pedagogical competence, and professional decision-making. Purpose. This study aims to analyze the role of personal narratives in educational administration in strengthening teacher professional development through reflective practices. Specifically, it seeks to address the limitations of conventional training-based professional development models by proposing a narrative-based reflective framework that fosters deeper engagement, professional identity development, and sustained pedagogical transformation. Method. The research employs a qualitative approach using literature review and descriptive analysis of relevant academic journals, educational literature, and teacher development policies. Results. The findings indicate that the use of personal narratives in reflective practice significantly improves teachers’ ability to evaluate their teaching experiences, identify weaknesses, and design more effective instructional improvement strategies. The discussion reveals that narrative-based reflection functions not only as a self-evaluation tool but also as a transformative mechanism that supports continuous professional growth in educational practice. Conclusion. The study concludes that the integration of personal narratives into educational administration plays a strategic role in enhancing teacher professional development through structured and continuous reflective practices.
