Abstract

Introduction: Mathematical literacy and the strengthening of Islamic character are essential components in developing both academic competence and moral values among elementary school students. However, mathematics learning is often perceived as abstract and less contextual, while the integration of Islamic values into learning activities has not been optimally implemented. The Sports and Arts Week (Pekan Olahraga dan Seni/Porseni) has the potential to serve as an enjoyable, contextual learning medium as well as a platform for strengthening Islamic character education. Methods: This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach involving students of SD 057 Pulliwa, teachers, and Porseni organizing committees as research participants. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation during the implementation of Porseni activities. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with data validity ensured through source and technique triangulation. Results: The findings indicate that Porseni activities contributed to the strengthening of students’ mathematical literacy through competition-based activities that required counting, measurement, classification, and contextual problem-solving skills. In addition, the internalization of Islamic character values such as sportsmanship, honesty, cooperation, discipline, and responsibility was evident in students’ attitudes and behaviors throughout the activities. Students demonstrated high enthusiasm and active participation in all competitions. Discussion: The integration of mathematical literacy and Islamic character through Porseni provides meaningful and holistic learning experiences. This approach not only enhances students’ cognitive abilities but also fosters moral and character development aligned with Islamic values. Therefore, Porseni can be considered an alternative strategy for learning innovation and character education in elementary schools.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education plays a significant role in fostering tolerance in multicultural vocational school environments. This study aims to describe how Islamic Religious Education learning at SMKN PP Rea Timur contributes to building mutual respect among religious communities. The study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and curriculum documentation. Data were analyzed using reduction and triangulation techniques. The results show that a contextual teaching approach encourages students to understand differences, develop empathy, and practice tolerance in daily life. These findings emphasize the importance of strengthening inclusive religious values in vocational education to promote social harmony.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of fractional domino cards as a medium and to analyze the improvement in mathematics learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at MI DDI Manding, Polewali Mandar District through the application of this media. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research type with a communication and education approach. Data sources consist of primary and secondary data obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the use of fractional domino cards as a medium is effective in helping students understand the concept of fractions in a concrete and interactive manner. The application of this media has been proven to improve mathematics learning outcomes, especially in the material on fractional conversion, as indicated by an increase in the average score of students from the sufficient category to good and very good. In addition, the use of fractional domino cards also has a positive impact on the affective and psychomotor aspects of students. In the affective aspect, students show increased courage in expressing opinions, the ability to work together, and an attitude of respect for friends. In the psychomotor aspect, students are more skilled in using media, increasing their thinking speed, calculation accuracy, and the ability to develop learning strategies through games. Thus, fractional domino card media can be an effective learning alternative to improve the quality of mathematics learning, create a fun, interactive learning atmosphere, and be able to develop students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor abilities in a balanced manner.
