Abstract

Pear skin contains flavonoids which have potential as antioxidants. Considering the existence of humans as social creatures, who in interacting with each other require self-confidence in order to be well received. Masks are a type of cosmetic treatment that is well known and widely used. The mask works deeply to remove dead horn cells on the skin. The aim of this community service is to provide education to the public about the benefits of pear skin as an antioxidant. This method of community service is by providing education to the public by presenting material about pear peels which are used as antioxidants and introducing natural ways to use pear peels. The results of the activities of implementing the community service program are in the form of educating the public about the benefits of pear skin, namely as an antioxidant. Conclusion: Community service in managing pear skin as an antioxidant meets quantity and quality.

Abstract

Limbah kulit buah jeruk (Citrus spp.) merupakan sumber antioksidan alami yang berpotensi besar namun sering belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Artikel ini disusun sebagai mini review yang bertujuan merangkum dan membandingkan aktivitas antioksidan kulit berbagai jenis jeruk berdasarkan empat metode uji, yaitu DPPH, FRAP, ABTS, dan CUPRAC. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi literatur deskriptif kualitatif terhadap publikasi ilmiah nasional dan internasional tahun 2022–2026 yang diperoleh dari Google Scholar, Garuda, ScienceDirect, PubMed/PMC, DOAJ, dan ResearchGate. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa nilai IC₅₀ dan kapasitas reduksi bervariasi luas antarjenis jeruk dan antarmetode, dengan kategori aktivitas berkisar dari sangat kuat hingga sangat lemah. Kadar fenolik dan flavonoid, metode ekstraksi, jenis pelarut, serta spesies dan bagian kulit yang diuji menjadi faktor utama yang memengaruhi hasil pengujian. Metode DPPH lebih sensitif terhadap senyawa polar, sedangkan FRAP, ABTS, dan CUPRAC mampu menangkap kontribusi senyawa semipolar hingga lipofilik seperti monoterpena. Perbandingan antarmetode menegaskan bahwa penilaian aktivitas antioksidan kulit jeruk hanya dari satu metode berisiko memberikan gambaran yang tidak lengkap, sehingga pendekatan multimetode diperlukan untuk memperoleh profil antioksidan yang lebih komprehensif.
