Abstract

Public transportation systems are essential in addressing urban challenges such as traffic congestion, air pollution, and the demand for efficient mobility. In response to these issues, the City of Bekasi launched the BISKITA Trans Bekasi Patriot program to encourage public adoption of mass transit. Despite the program’s significance, limited research has examined how local governments communicate such initiatives to the public. This study aims to analyze the public communication strategy employed by the Transportation Agency of Bekasi in promoting the BISKITA program. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and the campaign component model, this research investigates the key stages of the campaign: communicator selection, message development, media channels, audience targeting, and feedback mechanisms. Data were collected through interviews, document analysis, and field observations. Findings indicate that the agency adopted a collaborative communication strategy, leveraging a mix of digital and traditional media, including Instagram, local radio, and on-the-ground outreach. The campaign emphasized two-way communication by fostering direct engagement with the public, rather than relying solely on one-way information dissemination. However, the study also identified constraints such as limited human resources and budgetary restrictions affecting content production and distribution. This research contributes to the understanding of effective communication in urban transportation campaigns and highlights the need for better resource planning and sustained public engagement strategies in local government initiatives.

Abstract

Fire is one of the non-natural disasters with a high level of risk, particularly in densely populated residential areas in urban regions such as Cakung Timur  Subdistrict, East Jakarta. The low level of community knowledge, skills, and preparedness in dealing with fire hazards constitutes a major problem that potentially increases the extent of losses. This community service activity aims to enhance community capacity through socialization and education on community-based fire prevention and mitigation. The methods employed include observation, material preparation, implementation of socialization and educational activities, fire response simulations, and evaluation. The results indicate a significant improvement in community knowledge, skills, and awareness regarding fire risks. This is evidenced by the increase in pre-test results from 30% to 90.5% in the post-test. Participants were able to identify the causes of fire, understand preventive measures, and demonstrate the use of fire extinguishers and evacuation procedures. In addition, the development of an understanding of emergency communication systems has improved coordination among community members in dealing with emergency situations. Therefore, an approach that integrates socialization, education, and simulation has proven effective in enhancing community-based preparedness. This activity is expected to serve as a model for fire risk mitigation that can be replicated in other areas with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Introduction: YouTube, is one of the most popular forms of new media platforms in Indonesia. The freedom of the people who can act as creators or spectators is a special attraction for the community, moreover the availability of many choices of content has increasingly made YouTube the mainstay of the best-selling entertainment media. The rise of television journalists using social media, especially YouTube, has made an appeal for studies to be carried out to analyze the dynamics which enables them to utilize their professional competencies as a mediapreneur. Methods: This study applied a qualitative approach. The method used was the case study approach with in-depth interview and observation as the data collection techniques. The informants for the interview were the television journalist in Jakarta. There were eight television journalists who were used as informants for this study.Findings: This study found that the presence of new technology in journalistic work practices has eroded professional values. This research reveals the recognition of the erosion of professional values due to the impact of new media, coupled with the interests of entrepreneurial journalists who act as content creators for their own economic interests. Therefore, one way that is able to perpetuate existence is the strengthening and sharpness of in-depth and intact journalism.Originality: This study has become a novelty since no previous studies in Indonesia which analyze the role of journalists as professionals and also as content creators in mediaprenership efforts in the digital era.
