Abstract

The existence of a pandemic has changed the learning process, which is usuallyimplemented face-to-face between teachers and students at schools become online learningfrom home. The study described in this article aims to investigate the learning discipline of elementary school (SD) students during online learning, either in the village or city based on the teacher's perspective. The research method used was a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection used interviews and recording methods. The research instrument used was an interview guide, google form, and a recording device by cell phone. The participants involved three elementary school teachers who taught in the village and three elementary school teachers who taught in the city. The results of data collection were then analyzed and produced five themes, which were (1) discipline of time and actions (2) students’ learning activities, (3) differences in learning disciplines, (4) efforts and teacher cooperation, and (5) efficiency of cultivating learning disciplines. The results showed that based on the teacher's perspective, students' learning discipline during online learning changed in various aspects, in fact, not significantly, only influenced a small number of students in the class. However, teachers overall considered that the learning discipline during online learning tends to be less, thus, it is better to implement face-to-face learning at school. It was implemented either for elementary schools in the village or urban areas.

Abstract

The low concept mastery possessed by students influences learning outcomes that are often far from the standard of assessment, especially in natural science learning subjects. The research described in this article is generally aimed to develop digital comic learning media that could build the students' concept mastery. The research used a quantitative approach with quantitative-descriptive methods. The method used was Research and Development (R&D), which is a scientific method to obtain data so that it could be used to produce, develop, and validate products. Digital comic as learning media was first developed through a product validation that involved material and media experts to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of the product. Then, digital comic products were tested to determine the students' concept mastery after participating in learning activities. The participants of the research involved 23 fifth-grade students in one of the public elementary schools in Karimun Riau Islands. The results showed that digital comics were appropriate and effective to be used as learning media that could help teachers in natural science learning subject activities. The learning media of digital comics could also improve the fifth-grade students' concept mastery as evidenced by the improvement of students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

The Indonesian government's attempt to improve the literacy skills of elementary school students is to implement the MBKM (Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka) program for teaching campuses. Hence, the research described in this article is to investigate the information about the implementation of the Teaching Campus Students 2 program to improve elementary school students’ literacy skills. In addition, the research also involved the barriers, strategies, and evaluation results regarding student literacy. The research used a qualitative research method with a case study design through semi-structured interviews to find out the students' barriers, strategies, and evaluation results. The participants involved 20 students in the Teaching Campus program who were based in elementary schools and spread over the West Java provinces. The data used in the research was a qualitative analysis, which consisted of three activity lines, they are the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion or verification. The results indicate that the improvement of students' literacy skills was increased enough. It can be seen from the increased students’ interest in reading, the skill to process information, how to find out problems, and students’ skills to provide solutions to the problem. Various innovative learning strategies were successfully designed by Teaching Campus Students 2 and made it one of the factors that made students' literacy skills increase well enough.
