Abstract

Pemberian umpan balik tidak hanya dibutuhkan oleh siswa dalam menghasilkan tulisan yang berkualitas, tetapi juga dibutuhkan oleh penulis. Dalam hal ini tutor memiliki peran penting dalam proses menulis seorang penulis. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi umpan balik tutor dalam proses menulis cerita anak. Karakteristik umpan balik tutor yang dikomentari tutor akan dianalisis. Satu penulis cerita anak berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini. Penulis menghasilkan lima cerita dengan jumlah draf yang berbeda untuk setiap cerita. Data yang dikumpulkan adalah feedback tutor yang bersumber dari draf cerita anak yang sudah dikomentari tutor. Data dianalisis menggunakan kategori feedback (Park, 2018) yang terdiri atas Clarification, Identification, Explanation, Suggestion, dan Appreciation. Penelitian ini menemukan satu kategori tambahan, yaitu Question. Sementara itu, Suggestion adalah kategori umpan balik yang sering muncul dalam umpan balik tutor. Dari penelitian ini diketahui bahwa pemberian umpan balik tidak hanya dibutuhkan di dalam kelas, tetapi juga bagi penulis di luar lingkungan kelas. Tutor dapat memberikan umpan balik yang bervariasi, termasuk memberikan apresiasi lebih sering untuk meningkatkan kepercayaan diri penulis.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh model Multiliteracy Integrative Learning bermuatan literasi finansial terhadap keterampilan menulis teks negosiasi siswa kelas X SMAN 7 Padang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen semu (quasi-experimental design) dan rancangan posttest-only control group design. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 80 siswa yang terdiri atas 40 siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan 40 siswa pada kelas kontrol. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes unjuk kerja menulis teks negosiasi yang dinilai berdasarkan aspek isi, struktur, dan kesesuaian penggunaan Ejaan Yang Disempurnakan (EYD). Data dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji hipotesis dengan bantuan SPSS Statistics. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata keterampilan menulis teks negosiasi siswa pada kelas eksperimen sebesar 88,02, lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol sebesar 80,83. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan nilai signifikansi (Sig. 2-tailed) < 0,05 sehingga H₀ ditolak dan H₁ diterima. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa model Multiliteracy Integrative Learning bermuatan literasi finansial berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keterampilan menulis teks negosiasi siswa kelas X SMAN 7 Padang.

Abstract

The introduction of a research article (RA) is pivotal in conveying the study’s value. While authors must effectively communicate the study’s implications and contributions, little attention has been paid to the persuasive strategies they use to achieve this goal. This study investigates persuasive rhetorical strategies in research article (RA) introductions, specifically comparing how international and novice Indonesian authors present their research values across qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method paradigms. The analysis encompasses 120 applied linguistics RAs and employs a two-pronged methodological approach. First, we analyzed the frequency of occurrence of the promotional step using Swales’ (2004) CARS model. Second, we applied El-Dakhs et al.’s (2024) modified framework of persuasive rhetorical strategies, built upon Dontcheva-Navratilova et al.’s (2020) model of persuasion. Our findings reveal distinct patterns in how international and novice Indonesian authors employed promotional strategies in their RA introductions. These patterns manifest both in their use of promotional steps and their deployment of specific rhetorical strategies. Based on these findings, we provide pedagogical implications for academic writing tutors in optimizing authors’ promotion and offer practical guidelines for novice authors on writing more effective, convincing, and impressive RA introductions, with particular emphasis on persuasive rhetorical strategies to enhance the presentation of research values.

Abstract

This study aims to describe three things, namely the structure, content, and linguistic characteristics of observation report texts of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 15 Padang. The type of research used is qualitative research using descriptive methods. The data analyzed are observation report texts written by class VIII students of SMP Negeri 15 Padang totaling 33 texts. The instrument in this study was the researcher herself. Data collection techniques used fishing techniques and documentation techniques. The data validation technique used was triangulation (cross-check). Data analysis consists of, namely data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. Based on the results of the study, the following three things can be concluded. First, overall 24 texts have a complete structure and 9 texts do not have a complete structure. Second, the content of the observation report texts of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 15 Padang shows that of the 33 texts analyzed, 24 observation report texts have complete content. Third, the linguistic characteristics found in the observation report texts of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 15 Padang are 21 texts that have complete linguistic characteristics and 12 texts do not have complete linguistic characteristics. In general, students' ability to write observation report texts is classified as good, but still needs improvement, especially in the aspect of linguistic characteristics.
