Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 10 Kendari pada materi pangkat, akar dan logaritma melalui pendekatan pembelajaran problem posingDari hasil penelitian dan pembahasan, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa hasil belajar matematika siswadapat ditingkatkan. Hal ini diketahui pada tes awal, sebanyak 3 orang siswa atau sekitar 10% siswa berhasil mencapai nilai diatas  KKM yaitu 65. Pada siklus I sebanyak 11 orang siswa atau sekitar37% siswa memperoleh nilai diatas  KKM yang menunjukkan terjadinya peningkatan hasil belajarmatematika siswa pada hasil tes siklus I sebesar 27% (8 siswa) dibandingkan hasil tes awalKemudian terjadi peningkatan sebesar 30% (9 siswa) pada hasil tes siklus II yaitu 20 siswa atau sekitar 67% siswa memperoleh nilai diatas KKM. Pada hasil tes siklus III menunjukkan 27 siswaatau sekitar 90% siswa memperoleh nilai diatas  KKM. Hal ini menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar matematika siswa sebesar 23% (7 siswa).Kata Kunci: pembelajaran problem posing, hasil belajar matematika, logaritma

Abstract

Mathematical communication is a fundamental skill that enables students to express and justify mathematical ideas clearly. This study examines students’ mathematical communication skills in an agricultural-based region, focusing on proficiency levels and influencing factors. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected from 21 eighth-grade students through problem-solving tasks assessing three key indicators: mathematical modeling, explanation of mathematical patterns, and question formulation. The results indicate that most students exhibit moderate mathematical communication abilities, with only a small proportion demonstrating high proficiency. High-ability students effectively integrate multiple representations and justify their reasoning, while moderate-ability students rely on procedural approaches with limited conceptual depth. Low-ability students face significant challenges in constructing mathematical models and articulating solutions. These findings suggest that contextual factors, including limited access to quality education and instructional strategies, impact students' mathematical communication development. Although students in agricultural communities engage with quantitative reasoning in real-life contexts, they struggle to translate these experiences into formal mathematical communication. The study highlights the need for differentiated instructional strategies, including explicit reasoning exercises and contextualized learning, to enhance students’ communication skills. However, the study’s limited scope and sample size necessitate further research across diverse regions to explore long-term interventions. Future studies should investigate culturally relevant pedagogical approaches to strengthen mathematical communication, particularly for students in rural and agricultural settings.

Abstract

Mathematical reasoning is an important competency in junior high school mathematics learning, but learning and evaluation are still more focused on the final result than the student's thinking process. In addition, studies on the relationship between auditory learning styles and students' mathematical reasoning profiles are still limited, especially in revealing students' thinking processes in depth. This study aims to describe the mathematical reasoning profile of junior high school students based on auditory learning styles in solving mathematical problems. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with the subjects of six grade VII students of SMP Negeri 18 Buton, which consist of high, medium, and low hearing categories. Data were collected through learning style questionnaires, written tests, and semi-structured interviews, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman models. The results showed that students in the high auditory category had more consistent reasoning skills in the aspects of making assumptions, mathematical manipulation, drawing conclusions, and checking the validity of arguments. Middle category students need verbal reinforcement at several stages, while lower category students experience difficulties in evaluative and argumentative aspects. This study emphasizes the importance of learning strategies based on verbal discussions, scaffolding, and multimodal assessments to optimally develop students' mathematical reasoning skills.
