Abstract

The development of halal lifestyle has fundamentally changed Muslim consumption patterns, from merely fulfilling biological needs to manifesting religious identity, social ethics, and modern aspirations. This article examines the dynamics of Muslim consumer behavior in the context of halal lifestyle trends by highlighting the religious, social, psychological , and economic factors that influence decision-making. Through a conceptual study based on a systematic literature review and recent empirical data, it is found that Muslim consumers are now increasingly active, critical, and oriented towards ethical awareness. Consumption decisions are formed through the interaction between normative sharia values, community social norms, perceived risk benefits, and limited purchasing power. This study highlights the limitations of conventional consumer behavior models that tend to ignore normative aspects, so that a new approach based on maslahah mursalah is needed as an ethical and rational foundation. This article offers a conceptual model of consumer behavior based on perceptions of maslahah that explains the relationship between religious intentions, actual decisions, and the socio-economic impacts of consumption. Its practical implications provide direction for the halal industry, regulators, and academics in designing marketing strategies, certification, and consumer education that support the achievement of maqāṣid al-sharī'ah and the sustainability of the global halal market.

Abstract

The low level of financial literacy among the families of boarding school students is one of the factors affecting household economic well-being, particularly within religious-based educational communities. The families of boarding school students at the An-Nur Foundation in Dili, Timor-Leste, mostly come from lower-middle-class economic backgrounds and lack an adequate understanding of how to manage household finances in a planned and sustainable manner. This community service activity aims to strengthen Sharia-based financial literacy as an effort to improve the economic well-being of the families of students at the An-Nur Dili Foundation. The implementation methods used include partner needs analysis, socialization of Sharia financial literacy, family financial management training, mentoring on simple financial record-keeping practices, as well as monitoring and evaluation. The results of the activity indicate an increase in participants’ understanding of the basic concepts of financial literacy, their ability to prepare household budgets, and their awareness of applying Sharia financial principles in daily life. Additionally, evaluation results show an average increase in participants’ understanding from 51.2 on the pre-test to 78.3 on the post-test following the completion of training and guidance. This mentoring program has a positive impact on changing the financial behavior of students’ families, making it more planned, organized, and oriented toward long-term well-being. It is hoped that this initiative can serve as a model for community service based on Islamic financial literacy that can be replicated in similar communities.

Abstract

This study examines spiritual entrepreneurship among Muslim MSME entrepreneurs in Tana Luwu, Indonesia, by analyzing how barakah, falāḥ, and iḥsāniyyah rationality shape everyday economic practices. It addresses a gap in Islamic entrepreneurship studies, which remain largely normative and centered on formal urban business settings, leaving local religious community-based MSMEs underexplored. Using a descriptive qualitative design within an interpretive paradigm, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation involving 20 Muslim MSME entrepreneurs selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, with credibility strengthened through source and methodological triangulation. The findings show that niyyah, amānah, iḥsān, tawakkul, and barakah orientation are embedded in business practices, shaping honesty, halal commitment, trust-based relationships, and resilience amid economic uncertainty. Business success is understood not merely as profit accumulation but as falāḥ-oriented well-being encompassing material, social, moral, and spiritual dimensions. The study introduces iḥsāniyyah rationality as an alternative model of economic rationality and offers a conceptual basis for value-based MSME development and social sustainability within local Muslim economic communities.

Abstract

The accelerating digital transformation has driven significant changes in how businesses market their products and engage with consumers. In Palopo City, the use of visual content, such as product photos, short videos, promotional designs, and visual storytelling, has become an increasingly prominent strategy. However, there is limited research specifically addressing how visual content impacts the business activities of various business actors in the region during the digital transformation process. This study aims to analyze the role of visual content in increasing visibility, sales, and customer relationships as part of the dynamics of digital transformation among businesses in Palopo City. Using a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews and field observations, this study explores the experiences and perceptions of business actors from various sectors. The research findings indicate that visual content serves not only as a promotional tool but also as a means of building brand identity, increasing credibility, and expanding market reach through digital platforms. Furthermore, businesses that are able to adapt visual content consistently and creatively tend to experience a more significant increase in business activity. This study provides a theoretical contribution related to understanding the role of visual content in digital transformation, while also offering practical implications for businesses, supporting institutions, and local governments to optimize digital strategies to drive local economic growth.

Abstract

Abstract Purpose  The purpose of this study is to examine historically Masdar Farid Mas'udi's thoughts on zakat and tax in reducing ‘Double Tax’ to achieve social justice. Method - The research used is a literature study with a research approach that focuses on collecting and analyzing data from written sources, such as books, journals, research reports, official reports, and other references available in libraries or scientific repositories related to the thoughts of Farid Masudi on the synergism of zakat and taxes in a justice economy. Result - Farid Masudi believes that zakat and tax instruments have an important role because both aim to help achieve economic justice. The synergy of zakat and tax to achieve economic justice is applied by several countries, zakat is recognized as a deduction from tax obligations, which means that the amount of zakat paid by zakat payers can be deducted from taxes. This creates a collaboration between zakat and tax to reduce economic inequality. The paradigm of tax that zakat can provide solutions to realize social justice with an innovative approach to ensure taxes are not only a fiscal instrument but a religious and social responsibility. Collaboration between zakat and taxes provides a foundation for distributive justice, where zakat helps the needy, and taxes support the financing of infrastructure and public services needed by the wider community. Masdar's idea of integrating tax and zakat substantially can be a solution to the problem of implementing zakat and tax for Muslims in Indonesia
