Abstract

This experimental study aims to analyze the influence of school principal leadership and learning climate on the competitiveness of non-formal education (NFE) institutions offering equivalency programs in Mataram City. The study employs a quantitative approach with an experimental design. Data were collected through a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, with respondents consisting of 56 teachers and educational staff as well as 56 students from 8 NFE units (1 SKB and 7 PKBM) in Mataram City. Data analysis used multiple linear regression. The results showed that, simultaneously, school principal leadership and learning climate significantly influenced the competitiveness of NFE institutions with a calculated F-value of 20.744 and a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.01), contributing 43.9%. Partially, school principal leadership has a positive and significant effect on competitiveness (β = 0.668; p = 0.000), while the learning climate does not have a significant effect (β = -0.028; p = 0.793). The findings of this study reveal that in the context of non-formal education units in Mataram City, school principal leadership is the primary driver of competitiveness, while a learning climate that is already good and relatively homogeneous does not directly serve as a significant differentiator.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the principal's strategies in planning and implementing educational quality improvement programs and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors in their implementation. Educational quality improvement remains a major challenge in elementary education, particularly in areas experiencing disparities in educational achievement. The research employed a qualitative approach using a best-practice case study design conducted at SD Negeri Tansang-Ansang, Pujut District, Central Lombok Regency. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, educational staff, school supervisors, school committee members, and parents. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that educational quality planning was conducted through the formulation of SMART-based school goals, data-driven planning using Education Report Card indicators, stakeholder involvement, competency-based task distribution, and work-team formation. Strategy implementation focused on strengthening literacy and numeracy, character education, improving instructional quality through academic supervision and teacher professional development, creating a safe and inclusive school climate, and conducting continuous evaluation and follow-up actions. Supporting factors included harmonious relationships among teachers, diverse professional experiences, and strong instructional leadership of the principal.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies of planning, management, and supervision of educational facilities and infrastructure in improving the quality of education at SMAN 1 Woja, Dompu Regency. The research employed a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews with the principal, vice principal of facilities and infrastructure, and teachers, supported by direct observation and documentation to strengthen the validity of the findings. The results indicate that the planning strategy has been carried out systematically based on the actual needs of the school, although it still faces limitations in facilities and funding; the management strategy has been implemented effectively through structured utilization, maintenance, and coordination; while the supervision strategy is conducted through administrative, structural, and participatory mechanisms that sustain the use of facilities, despite challenges in asset disposal processes. Overall, these three strategies contribute to creating a conducive learning environment and support the improvement of educational quality in the school.

Abstract

The limited availability of picture storybooks that align with students’ characteristics, along with the lack of integration of deep learning principles in Grade II Indonesian language instruction, indicates the need to develop relevant and contextual learning media that meet students’ learning needs. This study aims to develop a deep learning–based picture storybook that is feasible for use in Grade II elementary school learning. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects were Grade II teachers and students at MI Integral Buah Hati Insani Mataram. Data were collected through interviews, observations, expert validation questionnaires (material and media), and teacher and student response questionnaires. The results showed that the developed picture storybook obtained a validity score of 95% from material experts and 97% from media experts, both categorized as highly feasible. In the development class trial (n = 12), teacher responses reached 96% and student responses 85%. Meanwhile, in the extended trial (n = 14), teacher responses reached 96% and student responses 89%, both categorized as highly practical. Therefore, the developed deep learning–based picture storybook is considered feasible to be used as a supporting instructional material for Indonesian language learning in elementary schools.
