Abstract

Physical unpreparedness, manifestations of anxiety, and pain intensity often hinder labor progress, which in turn escalates the risk of invasive medical interventions. Non-pharmacological approaches, particularly through prenatal exercise activities and the use of birthing balls, are considered to have a positive contribution in optimizing labor mechanisms. This study aims to investigate the efficacy of prenatal exercise and birthing ball education on parameters of smooth labor processes in mothers. The methodology applied was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design approach. A total of 62 respondents were involved as samples distributed into the experimental group and the control group. The intervention group received treatment in the form of prenatal exercise and education on the use of birthing balls, while the control group only received standard midwifery care. Data were collected through observations using standardized instruments, which were then analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U statistical test. The analysis results showed a significant difference in the level of smooth labor between the intervention and control groups. Pregnant women who received prenatal exercise and birthing ball education tended to have smoother labors compared to those who did not receive these interventions. It can be concluded that the integration of prenatal exercise and birthing ball education has been proven effective in improving the smoothness of labor. This intervention can be implemented as a safe and beneficial non-pharmacological alternative within maternity nursing care. It is hoped that healthcare practitioners can integrate this program into antenatal care to optimize maternal preparedness for labor.

Abstract

Based on the 2018 National Health Research (RISKESDAS), the prevalence of doctor-diagnosed diabetes mellitus in Banten province reached 2.1%, slightly higher than the national average. Specifically, in Serang City, the capital of Banten Province, the prevalence of diabetes mellitus shows a number that deserves attention. Data from the Serang City Health Office (2023) shows that non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the most common among the community. As one of the main referral hospitals in Serang City, Sari Asih Serang Hospital also feels the impact of the increasing number of diabetes mellitus sufferers. Based on medical record data from the internal medicine polyclinic, there were 277 patient visits with a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus in the period March to May 2025. Diabetes mellitus sufferers with unstable blood sugar regulation have a two-fold greater risk of experiencing a spike in glucose levels when experiencing stress, compared to diabetes sufferers who have better blood sugar control. Factors that can affect a person's blood sugar levels include lack of exercise, diet, stress, obesity, genetic factors, and consumption of certain medications. The general objective of this study was to determine the relationship between stress levels and blood sugar levels in patients with type II diabetes mellitus. This study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The population of this study were patients at Sari Asih Hospital in Serang City who suffered from diabetes mellitus. The research sample consisted of 74 participants. The results of the study were carried out with a correlation test with a sig value (2-tailed) of (0.005). So Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between stress levels and blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus controlled at the hospital. Sari Asih Serang. And the correlation coefficient value is known to be 0.005a r= 0.005 (r < 0.05).

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a common menstrual disorder experienced by women of reproductive age and often interferes with daily and academic activities. Non-pharmacological management is increasingly recommended to minimize the side effects of long-term analgesic use. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a combination of Benson relaxation therapy and ginger decoction on the intensity of dysmenorrhea among undergraduate students of the Elementary School Teacher Education Program, Class of 2023, at Universitas Islam Sultan Agung Semarang. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group pretest–posttest. A total of 48 respondents were divided into intervention and control groups. The results showed that before the intervention, 91.7% of respondents in the intervention group experienced severe pain, while after the intervention, 79.2% experienced mild pain. Wilcoxon test results indicated a significant reduction in pain intensity in the intervention group (p=0.000). Mann-Whitney test results also showed a significant difference between the intervention and control groups (p=0.000). The combination of Benson relaxation therapy and ginger decoction was proven effective in reducing dysmenorrhea intensity.

Abstract

Menarche is a critical developmental milestone that often generates anxiety and maladaptive perceptions among adolescent girls when adequate preparedness is lacking. This study examined the effect of psychoeducational intervention on menarche readiness among female students at SD Negeri Gebangsari 01 using a school-based quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The study involved 45 fourth- and fifth-grade female students selected through total sampling. Menarche readiness was measured using a validated and reliable ordinal-scale questionnaire, and data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test to assess within-subject changes. The findings demonstrated a significant increase in mean readiness scores from pretest to posttest, accompanied by a shift toward higher readiness categories and reduced variability in responses. Statistical analysis confirmed a significant difference between pre-intervention and post-intervention readiness levels (p < 0.05), indicating that the observed changes were attributable to the psychoeducational intervention. These results suggest that structured psychoeducation effectively enhances cognitive and emotional preparedness for menarche among primary school girls. The study highlights the strategic role of schools as early intervention settings for reproductive health education and supports the integration of psychoeducational programs into elementary school health promotion initiatives.

Abstract

Bronchopneumonia is one of the leading causes of morbidity among children under five years of age and remains a common health problem. Exposure to cigarette smoke inside the household due to the smoking behavior of family members is an important environmental risk factor. Toddlers have immature immune systems and lung function, making them more susceptible to the adverse effects of cigarette smoke. This study aimed to determine the relationship between family members’ smoking behavior and the incidence of bronchopneumonia among children under five at Sari Asih Ciledug Hospital. This study employed a quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 83 respondents selected using a total sampling technique. Data on family members’ smoking behavior were collected through a structured questionnaire, while data on the incidence of bronchopneumonia in toddlers were obtained from hospital medical records. Data analysis was performed using univariate analysis to describe respondent characteristics and bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test to examine the relationship between variables. The results showed a statistically significant relationship between family members’ smoking behavior and the incidence of bronchopneumonia among toddlers (p < 0.05). The Prevalence Odds Ratio (POR) value of 16.640 indicated that toddlers exposed to cigarette smoke had a higher risk of developing bronchopneumonia compared to those who were not exposed
