Abstract

The use of pneumatic tools such as air impact wrenches in the workshop industry requires a stable and adequate supply of compressed air. However, conventional compressors on the market often have large dimensions, making them less flexible for portable needs. This study aims to design and build a mini compressor system capable of supplying the air pressure needed for the operation of an air impact wrench. The research method includes the system design stage, selecting the drive components (electric motors), calculating the dimensions of the air storage tank, and testing the system's performance. The parameters tested include the tank filling time to reach maximum working pressure, and pressure stability when the pneumatic tool is used. The results showed that the tank filling time is 10 minutes to reach a maximum working pressure of 95 Psi and the pneumatic tool pressure stability is 65 Psi within 3 minutes at a volume of 0.54 CFM. For heavier continuous use of the air impact wrench, a refill interval is required considering the limited pressure stability duration of 3 minutes..
