Abstract

Desa Narigunung Satu, Kecamatan Tiganderket, Kabupaten Karo, memiliki potensi besar dalam sektor pertanian, khususnya pada komoditas buah salak yang produksinya meningkat signifikan dalam beberapa tahun terakhir. Namun, potensi tersebut belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal karena masyarakat masih menjual buah salak dalam bentuk segar dengan nilai ekonomi rendah dan masa simpan singkat. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kelompok ibu-ibu PKK Desa Narigunung Satu dalam mengolah buah salak menjadi produk bernilai tambah, yaitu dodol salak, sebagai strategi penguatan ekonomi keluarga berbasis potensi lokal. Metode kegiatan dilakukan melalui sosialisasi, demonstrasi, serta evaluasi pengetahuan peserta menggunakan pre-test dan post-test. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada pemahaman peserta terhadap proses pengolahan, pengemasan, dan pemasaran produk. Peserta juga menunjukkan motivasi tinggi untuk mengembangkan usaha kecil berbasis olahan salak. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini berhasil menjembatani kesenjangan antara potensi pertanian lokal dan kemampuan masyarakat dalam menciptakan inovasi produk, sekaligus mendorong kemandirian ekonomi desa yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This study investigates the optimisation and characterisation of a biolubricant produced from a castor–maggot oil mixture via two-stage transesterification. Response surface methodology using a Box–Behnken design was employed to optimise the oil volume ratio, catalyst concentration, and reaction time. The optimum conditions were a castor oil–maggot oil ratio of 50% (v/v), a catalyst concentration of 1% (w/w), and a reaction time of 2 h, resulting in a biolubricant yield of 71.43%. Ethylene vinyl acetate and ethyl-cellulose were added to enhance stability and performance. The biolubricant exhibited a viscosity index of 101.88, kinematic viscosity at 40°C of 54.57 cSt, and a flash point of 235°C, complying with ISO VG 68 and SNI 7069.9:2016 standards. These performance characteristics demonstrate favourable viscosity–temperature behaviour, adequate thermal safety, and suitability for industrial lubrication systems. The integration of mixed vegetable–insect oil feedstocks with Response Surface Methodology (RSM)–Box–Behnken optimisation, together with the incorporation of performance-enhancing additives, resulted in a biodegradable, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly biolubricant that meets standard requirements and shows strong potential as a sustainable alternative to petroleum-based lubricants for mechanical applications.

Abstract

This study analyzed the quality of borehole water in Green View Sunggal Housing located in a rice field area. This research used a descriptive analytical method with a cross-sectional design. Samples were taken from 25 boreholes through a purposive sampling technique divided into three zones: north (8 wells), middle (7 wells), and south (10 wells). The parameters evaluated included physical aspects (temperature, odor, taste, color, turbidity) and chemical aspects (pH, hardness, Fe, Mn, nitrate, nitrite, chloride). Laboratory analysis was carried out at the Medan State Polytechnic following SNI standards and the APHA method, with statistical analysis using SPSS for Pearson correlation and linear regression. The results showed that the majority of parameters met the standards of Permenkes No. 32 of 2017. The parameters of temperature, odor, taste, hardness, manganese, nitrate, nitrite, and chloride reached a compliance level of 100%. However, there were discrepancies in color (92%), turbidity (84%), pH (64%), and iron content (80%). Samples from the southern zone adjacent to rice fields within a 200-meter radius showed significant problems with acidic pH (5.8-6.4) and excessive iron content (1.12-1.42 mg/L). Statistical analysis revealed significant correlations between well depth, distance from rice fields, and water quality. Distance from rice fields was the strongest predictor for nitrate (R² = 0.475) and iron (R² = 0.374). The study concluded that better environmental management is needed to maintain and improve water quality in the residential area.
