Abstract

Ethical discipline is one of the essential foundations in early childhood character formation because it is closely related to children’s habits in following rules, behaving politely, taking responsibility, and showing respect to others. This study was conducted to examine the strategies used by teachers to improve students’ ethical discipline at PaudQu Darussa’adah Cidahu Sukabumi. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed in this research. Data were gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers and the school principal as key informants. The findings indicate that teachers applied several strategies, including giving daily reminders and guidance, providing advice and reprimands when children made mistakes, encouraging children to recite istighfar after hurting their peers, and guiding them to apologize as a form of responsibility. The study also found that one of the main challenges in shaping ethical discipline was the influence of the home and surrounding environment, which did not always support the positive habits developed at school. These findings suggest that strengthening ethical discipline in early childhood requires consistent habituation, a persuasive approach, reinforcement of religious values, and collaboration between school and family.
