Abstract

Learning evaluation is an important component in the educational process that aims to determine the level of success of the learning process that has been carried out. Evaluation is not only used to assess students' learning outcomes, but also to improve the quality of the learning process that takes place in the classroom. Learning evaluation provides important information for teachers, students, and schools in determining steps to improve the learning process. This study uses a qualitative research method with a literature study approach that examines various theories and concepts related to learning evaluation. The research data were obtained from various sources such as books, scientific journals, and relevant academic documents. The results of the study indicate that learning evaluation must be carried out based on certain principles such as validity, reliability, objectivity, practicality, and continuity. In addition, learning evaluation has several important functions such as diagnostic, formative, summative, and selective functions. Learning evaluation approaches can be conducted through test and non-test approaches, which include various assessment techniques such as observation, interviews, performance assessment, and portfolios. By implementing proper and systematic learning evaluation, the quality of the learning process can be improved so that educational goals can be achieved optimally.

Abstract

The religious and moral development of students is an important element in education because it is closely related to the formation of character, attitudes, and individual social behavior. The rapid dynamics of modern life have brought various influences on the mindset and behavior of younger generations, making the strengthening of moral and religious education an unavoidable necessity. This study aims to analyze the religious and moral development of students through two perspectives, namely the Western perspective represented by Lawrence Kohlberg and the Eastern Islamic perspective represented by Ibn Miskawaih. This research employs a library research method with a qualitative descriptive approach based on various relevant scientific literatures. The findings indicate that Lawrence Kohlberg views moral development as a gradual process influenced by individuals’ reasoning abilities and cognitive development in making ethical decisions. On the other hand, Ibn Miskawaih emphasizes that morality is closely related to character building, self-control, and continuous spiritual development. Both thinkers have made significant contributions to moral education; however, Ibn Miskawaih’s concept is considered more comprehensive because it integrates moral aspects with religious values and personality formation. Therefore, students’ moral education should not merely focus on rational development, but also on spiritual guidance and exemplary conduct in daily life.
