Abstract

Corruption is unethical behaviour that undermines integrity, erodes social trust, and causes widespread harm to society. Two psychological constructs that may explain individuals’ propensity to engage in corrupt behaviour are moral disengagement and belief in a just world. This study aims to investigate the cognitive mechanisms underlying individuals’ intentions to engage in corruption by examining the role that these two variables play. The study employed a quantitative design involving 120 participants. Data was analysed to test the predictive contributions of moral disengagement, as well as the general and personal dimensions of belief in a just world, towards corrupt intentions. The results indicate that moral disengagement significantly predicts corrupt intentions. Furthermore, the two dimensions of belief in a just world exhibit distinct patterns of influence. General belief in a just world was found to be significant in predicting corrupt intentions, whereas personal belief in a just world did not show a significant influence. These findings expand our understanding of the psychological factors underpinning corrupt behaviour and provide important implications for the development of prevention strategies and psychological interventions to reduce the propensity to corruption.

Abstract

Abstract

Data dikumpulkan menggunakan Revised Self Disclosure Scale (RSDS), Online Friendship Scale (OFS), and Inclusion of Other in the self Scale (IOS), lalu dianalisis menggunakan regresi linear berganda. Abstract This study analyzes the influence of multidimensional intimacy, consisting of online friendship and subjective closeness, on self-disclosure among Instagram users. Utilizing a quantitative correlational method with 206 active Instagram users as respondents, data were collected using the Revised Self Disclosure Scale (RSDS), Online Friendship Scale (OFS), and Inclusion of Other in the self Scale (IOS), and analyzed through multiple linear regression. The results indicate that intimacy has a significant positive influence on self-disclosure (R² = 0,454; p < 0,05) with online friendship being more dominant (β = 0,606) compared to subjective closeness (β = 0,120). These findings indicate that intimacy is multidimensional, suggesting that the Close Friends feature may serve as a safe space for digital self disclosure. Abstract

Sexting, beyond being the act of sending sexual photos or videos, also represents a relational dynamic within romantic relationships. This study aimed to examine the influence of multidimensional romantic competence, which includes compromise, avoidance, interactional reactivity, separation, domination, and submission, on adolescents’ engagement in sexting behavior. A quantitative approach was employed, involving 244 participants selected through purposive sampling. All respondents were adolescents and young adults aged 18 to 25 years who were currently involved in romantic relationships. Data were collected using the Sexting Motivation Scale and the Romantic Partner Conflict Scale. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to examine the relationships among variables. The results indicated that the six dimensions of romantic competence jointly predicted sexting behavior (p < .001), with an R value of 0.751 and an F value of 51.2, F (6, 237) = 51.2. These findings explained 56.4% of the variance in sexting behavior (R² = 0.564), while the remaining 43.6% was accounted for by factors outside the research model. However, partial regression analysis revealed that only compromise and submission significantly influenced sexting. Overall, the findings highlight submission as a risk factor and compromise as a protective factor in adolescents’ involvement in sexting.

Abstract

University students are widely regarded as agents of change with highly critical attitudes. However, they are often vulnerable to exposure to radical ideologies. The phenomenon of radicalism in campus environments is a complex issue that can be influenced by how individuals or groups perceive social hierarchies and their participation in social movements. This study aims to examine the effect of Social Dominance Orientation (SDO) on students' tendency toward radicalism, with activism serving as a mediating variable. The study employed a quantitative approach involving 246 student participants from various higher education institutions, including those both affiliated and unaffiliated with student organizations. Mediation analysis was conducted to test the proposed model. The results indicate that SDO has a significant direct effect on radical intentions (p < .001). Furthermore, SDO significantly influences radical intentions indirectly through activism as a mediator (p = .002). These findings demonstrate that SDO can foster students' radical intentions both directly and indirectly through their involvement in activism. This study contributes to the existing literature by elucidating how SDO influences students' radical tendencies through their engagement in activism.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of peer conformity on impulse buying with Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) as a mediating variable among Generation Z users of paylater services in Indonesia. A quantitative correlational design was employed involving 167 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using linear regression and mediation analysis. The results show that peer conformity has a significant positive effect on FoMO (β = 0.488; p < 0.01) and on impulse buying (β = 0.337; p < 0.01). In addition, FoMO has a significant positive effect on impulse buying (β = 0.223; p < 0.01). The mediation analysis indicates that FoMO acts as a partial mediator in the relationship between peer conformity and impulse buying, with a total effect of β = 0.446 (p < 0.01). These findings suggest that impulse buying behavior among Generation Z is influenced not only directly by social pressure but also indirectly through a cognitive appraisal process that generates FoMO as an emotional mediator. This study contributes to consumer psychology literature and provides practical implications for managing consumptive behavior in the digital era.
