Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using an educational Snakes and Ladders game on early childhood learning outcomes. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The participants were children aged 5–6 years (Group B) enrolled in an Early Childhood Education (ECE) institution. Data were collected through observation and documentation, while the research instrument consisted of an observation sheet developed based on child development indicators. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and inferential tests, namely the Paired Sample t-Test or Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, depending on the data distribution. The findings indicate that the use of the educational snakes and ladders game has a positive effect on children's learning outcomes. The improvement in learning outcomes was reflected in the differences between pretest and posttest scores, demonstrating that the game-based learning media enhanced children's engagement, motivation, and understanding of learning materials. In addition to supporting cognitive development, the educational snakes and ladders game also contributed to the development of children's social, emotional, and motor skills through play-based learning activities. Therefore, the educational snakes and ladders game can be considered an effective learning medium for improving early childhood learning outcomes.
