Abstract

Several regions have different centripetal strengths compared to others. This difference means that areas with low competitiveness need to be supported by regions with strong centripetal forces in order to develop. South Lampung Regency plays a very important role in the economic, social, and political development at the regional level. Along with population growth and social changes, this regency has experienced significant development in recent years. It is necessary to identify the Regional Center System in South Lampung Regency that aligns with these recent significant developments. This research aims to understand the regional center system in South Lampung Regency. The study uses a quantitative research method, combining several analyses, including Service Index, Guttman Scalogram analysis, Marshal's Centrality Index analysis, and Rank Size Population analysis, using secondary data collection techniques. The results of the study indicate that the service centers of South Lampung Regency are located in three subdistricts: Kalianda, Natar, and Jatiagung. This is because Kalianda is the capital of South Lampung Regency, while Natar and Jatiagung are designated as Rapid Growth Strategic Areas.

Abstract

Batu Mbelin Village, located in Sibolangit District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, has a problem of frequent water puddles in residential areas due to an inadequate drainage system. This community service activity aims to design a drainage system that suits the local hydrological conditions and provide assistance and education to the community regarding sustainable drainage maintenance. The methods used in this activity included field surveys and observations of existing conditions, drainage design based on rainfall and topographical data, and assistance to village officials and the community. The results of this activity include a drainage system design plan for Batu Mbelin Village recommended for construction to address water puddles. Additionally, the community and village officials showed enthusiasm and increased understanding of the importance of routine drainage maintenance. This activity is expected to be the first step toward achieving a sustainable drainage system and reducing the risk of water puddles in Batu Mbelin Village.

Abstract

Rajabasa District in Bandar Lampung City is a strategically located area undergoing rapid development, primarily characterized by residential, educational, and transportation functions. However, unbalanced urbanization and inadequate environmental management have increased its vulnerability to flooding. In the past two years, floods have occurred due to river overflow during heavy rainfall, insufficient drainage infrastructure, and limited green open spaces for water absorption. These conditions underscore the urgency of adopting flood-adaptive planning strategies. This study investigates the potential application of the Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) concept along the riverbanks in Rajabasa to enhance urban flood resilience. A mixed-method approach was employed, combining spatial analysis using GIS and field observations to assess existing conditions and identify priority areas for WSUD implementation, along with qualitative analysis of relevant literature and spatial planning documents. Findings reveal that the riverbank area is predominantly occupied by housing with low elevation, increasing the risk of water accumulation. To improve infiltration capacity, priority WSUD elements include rainwater storage tanks, raingardens, street trees/tree pits, swales (bioretention), permeable paving, and riparian buffers. Implementing these elements is expected to provide a foundation for flood-resilient urban planning and contribute to sustainable urban development. Keywords: flood; riverside area; WSUD
