Abstract

Maggot salah satu sumber pakan dalam kegiatan budidaya ikan baik sebagai pakan hidup maupun sebagai sumber bahan baku pakan buatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi penggunaan pakan berupa larva maggot dalam kegiatan budidaya ikan lele. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu larva maggot (P1), pelet (P2) serta kombinasi larva maggot dan pelet (P3) masing-masing 3 ulangan dan lama pemeliharaan dilakukan selama 35 hari dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL). Pada akhir pemeliharaan, pertumbuhan ikan lele menunjukan perbedaan pertumbuhan yang signifikan (p < 0,05). Pertumbuhan ikan lele yang diberikan pakan pelet sebesar 9,0 ± 1,8 g tidak berbeda nyata dengan pakan kombinasi maggot dan pelet yaitu sebesar 10,0 ± 1,0 g sedangkan berbeda nyata dengan pakan maggot hidup sebesar 5,2 ± 0,7 g. Tingkat pertumbuhan biomas spesifik (W-SGR) untuk perlakuan kombinasi maggot dan pelet memiliki tingkat pertumbuhan yang paling tinggi yaitu sebesar 4,59 ± 0,29 % dibandingkan dengan perlakuan pelet sebesar 4,25 ± 0,6 % dan maggot sebesar 2,68 ± 0,43 %. Sementara itu, tingkat pertumbuhan panjang spesifik yang tertinggi dihasilkan dari perlakukan pakan pelet yaitu sebesar 2,05% ± 0,28, diikuti oleh pakan kombinasi pelet dan maggot sebesar 1,35 ± 0,33 % dan yang terendah pakan maggot sebesar 0,89 ± 0,5%. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan kombinasi pelet dan maggot dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan ikan lele.Black Soldier fly (BSF) larvae are one of many sources of feed in fish farming, both as live feed and as raw materials for artificial feed. This study aimed to assess the use of live maggot feed in catfish cultivation. The treatments used were BSF (P1), pellets (P2), and a mix feed (BSF and pellets) (P3), with three replications for each. The rearing period lasted 35 days using a completely randomised design (CRD). At the end of the period, catfish growth showed significant differences. Catfish fed with pellet feed of 9.0 ± 1.8 g did not significantly differ from those fed with the combination of BSF and pellets, which was 10.0 ± 1.0 g, but both were significantly different from fish fed live BSF larvae at 5.2 ± 0.7 g. The specific biomass growth rate (W-SGR) was highest in the maggot and pellet combination treatment at 4,59 ± 0,29 %, compared to 4,25 ± 0,6 % for pellets and 2,68 ± 0,43 % for maggots. Similarly, the highest specific length growth rate was achieved with pellet feed at 2,05 ± 0,28 %, followed by the combination at 1,35 ± 0,33 %, and the lowest with maggots at 0,89 ± 0,5 %. Overall, this research demonstrates that combining pellets and maggots significantly improves catfish growth.

Abstract

Biofloc technology utilizes heterotrophic bacteria to control waste by adding organic carbon sources. The addition of organic carbon sources is based on the feed-to-carbon ratio. This study aims to evaluate the effect of adding low doses of molasses to a biofloc system on water quality and floc formation in catfish farming. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments: no molasses (control), 5%, 10%, and 15% molasses, each with three replicates. The results showed that molasses addition had no significant (P > 0.05) effect on water quality and floc volume. Parameters such as temperature, pH, TSS, TAN, nitrite, and nitrate remained relatively stable across all treatments, while floc volume at 5%, 10%, and 15% molasses was relatively similar. Thus, the use of 5% molasses is recommended as the most efficient dose because it produces water quality and floc formation conditions equivalent to higher doses. The presence of plankton in the rearing medium and the fish intestines indicates that the flocs have the potential to be utilized as natural feed by catfish.
