Abstract

Diabetes melitus is a metabolic disorder that causes liver dysfunction. The use of functional foods made from local ingredients continues to be developed to help manage this condition. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of rice analogs substituted with porang glucomannan (Amorphophallus oncophyllus) and waxy cassava flour on liver function and body weight changes in diabetic mice induced by alloxan. The method used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 replicates. A total of 24 male mice were divided into several groups: the healthy control group (AIN-93M diet), the diabetic group (AIN-93M diet), the diabetic group (porang analog rice), and the diabetic group (IR-64 rice). The results showed that feeding porang-analog rice resulted in a serum glutamate oxaloacetate (SGOT) level of 306±35.89 U/L, a weight loss of 0.92 g, and a Serum Glutamate Pyruvate Transaminase (SGPT) level of 180±14.96 U/L. In conclusion, consumption of porang glucomannan-based analog rice has the potential to maintain liver function while improving metabolic conditions in diabetic mice. It is hoped that this study can provide a scientific basis for the development of functional foods based on local ingredients to support liver health in cases of diabetes melitus.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Aren (Arenga pinnata) merupakan komoditas lokal yang berpotensi dikembangkan menjadi berbagai produk bernilai tambah, seperti gula aren, kolang-kaling, dan minuman berbasis nira. Namun, pemasarannya masih menghadapi kendala berupa kemasan yang sederhana, identitas merek yang lemah, serta pemanfaatan media digital yang belum optimal sehingga mengurangi daya saing produk. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kapasitas kelompok Dasawisma di Kelurahan Lempake, Kota Samarinda, dalam mengembangkan produk turunan aren melalui pelatihan pengemasan, branding, dan fotografi produk. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan partisipatif dan aplikatif melalui tahapan persiapan, sosialisasi, penyuluhan, pelatihan teknis, pendampingan, evaluasi, dan monitoring. Pelatihan meliputi pemilihan kemasan, penyusunan identitas merek, desain label, teknik fotografi menggunakan telepon pintar, serta pembuatan konten promosi digital. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta dalam menghasilkan kemasan yang lebih menarik, membangun identitas produk, serta menyusun materi promosi yang lebih efektif. Program ini memperkuat kesiapan kelompok Dasawisma untuk mengembangkan usaha berbasis potensi lokal sehingga mendukung peningkatan daya saing UMKM dan pemberdayaan ekonomi masyarakat. Model pemberdayaan ini direkomendasikan untuk diterapkan pada kelompok masyarakat lain dengan karakteristik sumber daya lokal yang serupa. Kata Kunci: Aren, Branding, Dasawisma, Pengemasan, Produk Lokal.  ABSTRACT Sugar palm (Arenga pinnata) is an important local commodity with significant potential to be developed into value-added products, including palm sugar, palm sugar powder, sugar palm fruit (kolang-kaling), and sap-based beverages. However, these products are commonly marketed using simple packaging, weak brand identity, and limited digital promotion, resulting in low market competitiveness. This community service program aimed to strengthen the capacity of the Dasawisma group in Lempake Village, Samarinda City, through training on product packaging, branding, and product photography. The program employed a participatory and practical approach consisting of preparation, socialization, educational sessions, technical training, mentoring, evaluation, and follow-up monitoring. Training activities covered appropriate packaging selection, brand identity development, label design, smartphone-based product photography, and digital promotional content creation. The program improved participants' knowledge and practical skills in producing more attractive packaging, establishing stronger product identities, and creating effective promotional materials. Furthermore, it enhanced the readiness of the Dasawisma group to develop local resource-based enterprises, contributing to the competitiveness of micro and small enterprises and strengthening community economic empowerment. This integrated empowerment model is recommended for replication in other communities with similar local resource potential. Keywords: Sugar Palm, Branding, Dasawisma, Packaging, Local Products.

Abstract

Coffee is one of Indonesia's key commodities with high economic value in both domestic and international markets. Roasting is a crucial stage in coffee processing, as it directly influences the final taste and aroma. However, until now, the roasting level has been determined visually and subjectively, making it prone to human error. This study aimed to develop an automatic classification system for coffee roasting levels using a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) approach integrated into an Android application. The CNN model was built using the MobileNetV3 architecture and applied with a transfer learning method on Google Colab. The dataset consisted of 1,600 coffee images with three roasting levels: light, medium, and dark. The trained model was then converted into TensorFlow Lite (TFLite) format for integration into an Android application called RoastScan. This app features automatic classification through the camera or gallery and provides real-time predictions with confidence levels. The evaluation results show that the model has a classification accuracy of 97% on the test data, with high precision, recall, and F1-score across all classes. Further testing via the application showed that the best accuracy reached 93.55%. These findings suggest that integrating CNN with mobile applications has the potential to be a practical, efficient, and accurate solution for determining coffee roasting degrees, as well as supporting the standardization of coffee product quality at both industrial and MSME levels.
