Abstract

Nighttime riding safety depends strongly on headlamp performance, especially for motorcycles operating in road environments with limited street lighting. Conventional halogen lamps are widely used but place a relatively high electrical demand and thermal load on the system. This study experimentally evaluates a modified 12 W light-emitting diode (LED) motorcycle headlamp equipped with a 3 mm acrylic optical limiting plate to improve beam control and reduce upward light scatter. A Honda Supra 125 FI with a 12 V direct-current electrical system was used as the test platform. The final quantitative comparison was limited to a standard 35 W halogen lamp and a modified LED configuration with an acrylic shield/baffle. Luminous intensity was measured at 1 m and 5 m, electrical current was measured under direct-current operating conditions, and surface temperature was monitored during a 75 min continuous operation test. The modified LED system produced 1342 lux at 1 m and 170 lux at 5 m, exceeding the halogen values of 1240 lux and 124 lux, respectively. The LED configuration reduced current draw from 2.92 A to 1.00 A and decreased peak operating temperature from 278 °C to 100 °C. The acrylic limiting plate produced a more clearly bounded beam pattern in qualitative projection tests; however, the present study does not claim full glare elimination because standard glare indices and complete photometric mapping were not measured. These results indicate that the proposed LED retrofit can improve energy efficiency and thermal behavior while providing better preliminary beam control for motorcycle lighting applications.

Abstract

The efficiency of fuel consumption in motorcycles is determined by multiple factors, such as the type of oil and fuel utilized. The careful choice of these two elements is essential for enhancing engine performance and reducing operational expenses. This study examines the impact of various oil and fuel types on the fuel consumption of the Honda Vario 125 cc ESP FI motorcycle, with particular attention to the relationship between engine oil viscosity and fuel quality. The study involved conducting experiments with a range of engine oil combinations, specifically 10W-30 and 20W-40, alongside different fuels like Pertalite and Pertamax, each exhibiting distinct octane ratings and combustion properties. The methodology included systematic and thorough testing in controlled environments, where factors like distance and load were standardized to guarantee precision and consistency. The results indicated clear variations in fuel efficiency among the tested combinations. The application of 10W-30 oil in conjunction with Pertalite fuel resulted in a 0.76% enhancement in efficiency when compared to the use of 20W-40 oil with the same fuel type. In a comparable analysis, 10W-30 oil demonstrated a 3.87% increase in efficiency over 20W-40 oil when used with Pertamax fuel. In the analysis of fuel types, Pertamax demonstrated a 16% increase in efficiency compared to Pertalite when used with 10W-30 oil, and a 12.52% increase in efficiency with 20W-40 oil. The results highlight the benefits associated with the utilization of high-quality, low-viscosity oils and higher-octane fuels in achieving improved fuel economy. In summary, the most effective combination for achieving fuel efficiency and cost savings is the use of 10W-30 oil alongside Pertamax fuel. This pairing is advised for Honda Vario 125 cc ESP FI users aiming for improved performance and lower fuel costs.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are: (1) To get and provide the right periodic maintenance implementation time on CC201 locomotive maintenance. (2) To get and provide the right periodic maintenance implementation time on CC203 locomotive maintenance. The method used in this research is Markov Chain, using the type of applied research. This research uses a quantitative approach. The data collection techniques used are (1) Primary Data Collection; and (2) Secondary Data Collection. Meanwhile, the research instruments used (1) Observation Sheet; and (2) Documentation. The data analysis used is (1) Determination of Condition or State; (2) Creating a Transition Matrix; and (3) Steady State Analysis to get the probability of locomotive conditions in good condition, lightly damaged, moderately damaged or severely damaged. The results of this study show that: (1) The right periodic maintenance implementation time on CC201 locomotive maintenance is proposal II at interval P2 with the highest probability of good condition of 0.609 and the lowest probability of heavy condition of 0.021. With this, a maintenance scheduling policy is obtained for every 1 month to perform periodic maintenance on day 7,128. (2) The right periodic maintenance implementation time for CC203 locomotive maintenance is proposal II at interval P2 with the highest probability in good condition of 0.619 and the lowest probability in severe condition of 0.142. With this, a maintenance scheduling policy is obtained for every 1 month to perform periodic maintenance on day 24,516.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of replacing halogen lights with LED lights on two-wheeled vehicles, focusing on energy efficiency, light brightness levels, and operational temperatures of the lights to support road safety in areas with minimal road lighting, as well as on adjusting the light distribution of the applied LED lights. The method used was an experiment conducted on variables for which data were unavailable, necessitating manipulation of the research object. The experiment was conducted using a Honda Supra 125 FI motorcycle, with measurements of light intensity (lux), power consumption (watts), battery current (V), electric current (A), and operating temperature (°C). The known impact became a reference for regulating LED light distribution. The test shows that applying a barrier plate design to LED lights can provide focused lighting through its light distribution patterns. The application of the baffle plate design to LED lights provided focused lighting through its light distribution patterns. The use of LED lights provided a slightly higher intensity (6.4%) and an energy consumption efficiency 60% higher, with a reduction in operating temperature of 64%. The application results show that the light control plate successfully forms a bright-dark cut-off, with a uniform light distribution and consistent light intensity of 1854 lux. This indicates that the tested LED lamp maintains stable lighting performance without a decrease in brightness.
