Abstract

Siswa berkebutuhan khusus (SBK) menghadapi tantangan besar dalam mengakses Pendidikan keterampilan vokasional yang relevan dengan kebutuhan industri. Kurangnya fasilitas praktik dan kompetensi tenaga pengajar di Sekolah Luar Biasa (SLB) memperlebar kesenjangan kesiapan kerja lulusan SBK. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk membangun kemandirian siswa SLB Sri Mujinab Pekanbaru melalui peningkatan kompetensi di bidang pengelasan. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi identifikasi kebutuhan, workshop teknikal bagi guru dan siswa, serta pelatihan praktik dasar pengelasan bagi guru dan siswa dengan pendekatan visual dan project-based learning. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman siswa terhadap prosedur keselamatan kerja dan Teknik pengalasan dasar (running bead dan corner joint). Luaran konkret dari pengabdian ini dalam proyek produk fisik sederhana adalah berupa kursi kantin yang langsung dikerjakan oleh guru dan siswa. Kegiatan ini memberikan alternatif keterampilan baru bagi siswa SLB selain sektor pertanian, sehingga meningkatkan peluang mereka untuk bekerja atau berwirausaha secara mandiri di sektor industri manufaktur.

Abstract

Welding training for students is part of a Community Service initiatie led by lecturers form Industrial Technology Departemen , Politeknik Caltex Riau., in line with the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The goal of this training is to equip SLB Pelita Hati students with knowledge and skills in welding, promoting their independence. The training covers topics such as an introduction to SMAW welding,, welding fundamentals, equipment, safety practices, applications in product creation. The training took place over two days at SLB Pelita Hati. Following the training, ongoing guidance was provided, particularly fosuces on the products the students aimed to create. The students successfully produced tables, chairs, and shoe racks for their own use. As a result of this training, SLB Pelita Hati students are now able to independently manufacture table, chair and shoe racks products, fortering their self-sufficiency in community life

Abstract

This community engagement initiative aims to support Lembaga Pengolahan Sampah (LPS) by implementing a segregated waste bin system at Kantor Kelurahan Umban Sari, Kecamatan Rumbai, Kota Pekanbaru. The primary objective is to provide dedicated bins for organic, inorganic, and hazardous waste (B3), thereby enhancing the operational effectiveness of the LPS and fostering an environmentally conscious culture among office personnel. The program was executed through a series of structured stages, including preliminary surveys, problem identification, waste bin design, proposal development, fabrication and installation of the bins, and educational outreach to sub-district staff. The outcomes of this initiative include the successful provision of categorized waste bins, comprehensive documentation, and public dissemination of the project. This activity serves as a prototype for community-based waste management practices and offers a replicable model for similar urban settings.
