Abstract

Infant development can be broken down into four aspects: gross motor skills, fine motor skills, personal-social skills, and language. Stimulation in the form of exercise is one way to safeguard infant growth and motor development. Potential problems, if a child is not stimulated, include delayed motor development or a suboptimal motor development process. Given the numerous negative impacts, increased vigilance is needed for potential hazards. Social approaches in the form of baby gym or infant gymnastics need to be optimized to enhance growth optimization efforts, one of which is through outreach using teaching methods on infant gymnastics. This outreach activity has been proven to improve infant growth at Sukorejo Village, Ngasem Community Health Center, Kediri Regency. However, ongoing support is needed so that mothers can deepen their infant's motor growth and development.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional condition that affects child growth and development and remains a major public health concern in Indonesia. Community empowerment–based interventions utilizing local food resources, such as moringa leaves, are important strategies for stunting prevention. This community service program aimed to establish a Self-Care Group and to improve the knowledge of mothers of under-five children and community health cadres regarding the use of moringa leaves for stunting prevention. The program was conducted in Sukorejo Village, within the working area of Ngasem Public Health Center, involving 20 participants. The intervention included the formation of a self-care group, nutrition education, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test methods. The results showed that before the intervention all participants had low knowledge, while after the intervention all participants (100%) demonstrated good knowledge. The main outcome was the establishment of a Self-Care Group to support sustainable, community-based stunting prevention efforts

Abstract

Stunting remains a nutritional problem among toddlers, influenced by low parental knowledge regarding the utilization of nutritious local foods. Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera) have a high nutritional content and potential to be used as an alternative for stunting prevention. This study aimed to determine the effect of health education on knowledge regarding the utilization of Moringa leaves as an effort to prevent stunting among toddlers. The study employed a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The study population consisted of 30 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Knowledge was measured before and after the provision of health education. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that before health education, all respondents (100%) had poor knowledge. After the intervention, most respondents had good knowledge (28 respondents; 93.3%), while 2 respondents (6.67%) had sufficient knowledge. The Wilcoxon test results indicated a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), demonstrating a significant difference in knowledge before and after the health education intervention. It can be concluded that health education has a significant effect on improving knowledge regarding the utilization of Moringa leaves as an effort to prevent stunting among toddlers.
