Abstract

Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) requires comprehensive and respectful maternity care to improve maternal health outcomes. Midwifery professionalism plays an important role in ensuring quality care through the principles of Respectful Maternity Care (RMC). This study aimed to explore the experiences of midwives and pregnant women with GDM regarding the implementation of professional midwifery care. A qualitative study with a phenomenological approach was conducted from March to April 2025 at Sukamerindu Health Center. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with seven participants, consisting of three midwives, three pregnant women with GDM, and one health center head selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis. The findings identified four major themes: (1) continuous and responsive care as a form of professional responsibility, (2) emotional support and a sense of security in midwife–patient relationships, (3) patient-centered and non-discriminatory care, and (4) system support and equitable access to health services. Midwives demonstrated professionalism through continuity of care, effective communication, and collaboration with other healthcare providers. Emotional and spiritual support helped reduce anxiety among pregnant women with GDM. Respect for cultural values and patient involvement in decision-making strengthened trust and adherence to care. In addition, health insurance and accessible services supported care delivery, although limitations in nutritional services were still identified. In conclusion, professionalism in midwifery care for women with GDM includes clinical competence, empathy, cultural sensitivity, and system support. A holistic and patient-centered approach is needed to improve maternal care quality and patient experiences in high-risk pregnancies.

Abstract

Background: Normal infant development is highly dependent on the affectionate response between mother and baby. This response can be formed through the bonding attachment process. Lack of affectionate response between mother and baby in the form of bounding attachment will affect the infant's growth and development process such as stereotypical behavior, abnormal social behavior, decreased motoric, cognitive and verbal skills and can even increase infant mortality rates (IMR).Objectives: This study aims to determine the effect of health education about bonding attachment using leaflet media on the knowledge of pregnant women in the third trimester. Methods: The type of research used is Pre Experimental with a one group pre test-post test design, the population in this study were all pregnant women in the third trimester in the Betungan Health Center work area, with a sample of 35 primigravida pregnant women in the third trimester using purposive sampling techniques. Using primary data, processed univariately and bivariate. This study was conducted from December 2023 to January 2024 in the Betungan Health Center work area. Results: The results of univariate analysis of 35 pregnant women in the pre-test, the majority of 26 (74.3%) respondents had poor knowledge, in the post-test the majority of 21 (60%) respondents had good knowledge. The results of bivariate analysis using one samples t-test showed a p-value of 0.021, because the p-value <0.05 means that there was an increase in pregnant women's knowledge about bonding attachment after the intervention. Conclusion: It is expected that health workers, especially midwives, will use this research as input in efforts to improve the quality of services related to the provision of health education about bonding attachment using leaflet media to improve the knowledge of pregnant women in the third trimester

Abstract

ABSTRACT Breast cancer is the number one cancer in women in the world. Breast cancer mortality rates are higher in developing countries than in developed countries. The incidence of cancer in Indonesia is 136.2/100,000 population, ranking 8th in Southeast Asia, while in Asia it is ranked 23rd. This study aims to determine the difference in knowledge of young women about breast cancer with BSE behavior. This study design is a quasi-experimental design using a pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study was 280 people and the number of samples in this study was 37 people using a proportional random sampling technique. The data collection method in this study used a questionnaire. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with a T-test statistical test. The results showed that 39.4% of respondents had sufficient knowledge, 29.6% had insufficient knowledge, and 31.0% had insufficient knowledge. From the results of the T-test, it was found that there was a difference between knowledge and BSE behavior, mean = 11.5 knowledge before being given the leaflet media, and mean = 13.5 knowledge after being given the leaflet media. It is hoped that schools will collaborate with health workers to provide education on BSE for early detection of breast cancer. Keywords: Leaflet, Knowledge, Adolescent Girls, SADARI.  ABSTRAK Kanker payudara merupakan urutan pertama kanker pada perempuan di dunia.
