Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) has generated significant debates regarding its role in Islamic legal reasoning and the legitimacy of AI-assisted fatwas. This study aims to comparatively analyze the development of contemporary fatwas on artificial intelligence by examining the legal reasoning, epistemological foundations, and ethical principles adopted by contemporary Islamic scholars. A qualitative non-empirical approach was employed through a systematic literature review of recent academic publications and contemporary studies on AI, Islamic jurisprudence, fatwa authority, and digital governance. The findings identify three dominant jurisprudential models: restrictive, collaborative, and adaptive. Although these models differ in their evaluation of AI participation in legal reasoning, they consistently affirm that AI cannot independently perform ijtihad or replace qualified jurists. The analysis further demonstrates that contemporary debates have shifted from technological capability toward governance, accountability, and human oversight as the primary determinants of legal legitimacy. This study proposes an integrated governance framework that combines uṣūl al-fiqh, maqāṣid al-sharīʿah, and human-centered supervision to support the responsible integration of AI into Islamic legal institutions while preserving the epistemological integrity and normative authority of Islamic jurisprudence.

Abstract

Early childhood represents a critical period of brain development characterized by high neuroplasticity, during which neural connections rapidly form and are highly responsive to environmental stimulation. Neuroscience research emphasizes that appropriate learning experiences during this “golden period” can significantly influence children’s cognitive, emotional, and social development. However, many early childhood education practices still lag behind advances in neuroscience, creating a gap between scientific knowledge about how the brain learns and classroom practices. This study aims to analyze how neuroeducation, as an interdisciplinary approach integrating neuroscience and education, can optimize cognitive development in early childhood education. The research employs a qualitative approach using a systematic literature review of accredited scientific journal articles related to neuroscience, neuroeducation, and early childhood learning. Data were collected from relevant academic publications and analyzed using qualitative content analysis and conceptual synthesis techniques. The findings indicate that neuroeducation-based learning strategies such as play-based learning, music activities, socio-emotional learning, and early numeracy stimulation contribute significantly to strengthening neural connectivity and improving children’s executive functions and cognitive abilities. However, the implementation of neuroscience-informed practices remains limited due to insufficient teacher training and the persistence of traditional pedagogical approaches. The study concludes that integrating neuroeducation principles into teacher preparation and curriculum design is essential to effectively utilize the sensitive period of early brain development and support optimal cognitive development in young children.

Abstract

The play-based method is a learning approach that is highly relevant to the developmental characteristics of young children because it provides opportunities for children to learn through direct experience, exploration, and social interaction. This study aims to analyze the application of the play-based method in early childhood education at RA Tarbiyatus Shibyan and to identify its impact on children’s development and the factors influencing its implementation. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with the research subjects consisting of the school principal, three teachers, and 18 students in Group B. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the play-based method was systematically applied through various educational activities that enhanced children’s engagement and supported their cognitive, language, social-emotional, and motor development. The success of implementation was influenced by teachers’ creativity and school support, while obstacles were related to limited resources and differences in children’s characteristics. The study concluded that the play-based method is an effective learning strategy for supporting early childhood development.

Abstract

The use of electronic devices among early childhood students has increased alongside the development of digital technology and has the potential to affect children’s ability to focus during the learning process. This study aims to analyze the impact of electronic device use on children’s focus and to identify strategies used by teachers to address this impact at the As-Shofiyah Early Childhood Education Center in Kedungrejo, Muncar District. The study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive case study design. Research data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, involving the school principal, teachers from Groups A and B, and students as sources of information. The results indicate that excessive smartphone use is associated with a decline in the ability to sustain attention, an increase in distractibility, and low student engagement in learning activities. Teachers developed strategies through play-based learning, sensory-motor activities, personalized approaches, the use of concrete media, and collaboration with parents. This study contributes to the development of early childhood education research in addressing digital challenges by strengthening adaptive and contextual learning strategies.
