Abstract

The low interest in learning science among students of SMP Negeri 8 Banjarmasin has become one of the challenges in improving the quality of science education. The subjects of the study consisted of 34 students from class VIII A and 35 students from class VIII B, selected through purposive sampling. The instrument used was a science learning interest questionnaire, which had been validated and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. The analysis results revealed a significant difference in students’ interest in learning science between the experimental group and the control group, with a significance value of 0.000. This finding is supported by student learning outcomes, which showed a higher average n-gain in the experimental class compared to the control class. Keywords: Interest in learning IPA, pictorial riddle, poster.
