Abstract

Event notification systems play a crucial role in supporting academic and student organizational activities. However, many institutions still rely on monolithic architectures with synchronous processing that are unable to handle spikes in communication loads, resulting in high latency and reduced delivery reliability. This study proposes a notification system based on Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) integrated with a microservices environment to improve the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of information dissemination, particularly through the WhatsApp Business API as the primary communication channel. The proposed system leverages asynchronous event processing, distributed message brokers, and isolated gateway services to enable parallel message delivery while addressing external service constraints such as rate limiting. The system is evaluated within a single controlled experimental setup using 1,011 notification messages under consistent workload conditions. For comparison purposes, a simulated synchronous baseline is used to represent the characteristics of traditional sequential processing systems. The results show that the EDA-based system achieved a 100% delivery success rate with an average latency of 3,222 ms and a stable throughput of 17 messages per second, while the simulated baseline exhibits limitations in maintaining performance under the same conditions. These findings indicate that the proposed architecture improves system performance within the evaluated experimental context and demonstrates strong potential for scalable real-time communication in controlled deployment environments.

Abstract

The community engagement partner for this project is the youth members of Karang Taruna Parangloe, who face challenges due to a lack of digital literacy, particularly in utilizing technology for self-development. This initiative will equip these youth members with graphic design skills using the Canva platform. To achieve this goal, we implemented various approaches, beginning with an initial observation to understand the partner's needs, followed by a session on the importance of digital literacy. After the awareness session, we conducted intensive training in graphic design using Canva. This training was followed by an evaluation session to assess the participants' knowledge improvement. The evaluation was carried out through pretests and posttests with 30 youth members. The training results showed that the trained members of Karang Taruna Parangloe can now independently create graphic designs using Canva. The measurements indicated a significant improvement in their knowledge, with the average pretest score of 66.303 increasing to 82.709 in the posttest, reflecting the effectiveness of this community engagement program.

Abstract

This community engagement program aims to empower the "Kana Tojeng" craftswomen group in Bontokassi Village, Galesong Selatan District, Takalar Regency, through training in e-commerce-based marketing of woven products made from lontara fiber. The primary issues faced by the partners include limited understanding of digital marketing, lack of an established online business identity, and underutilization of e-commerce platforms. The method applied was an educational-participatory approach, consisting of observation, awareness sessions, hands-on training, and evaluation. The results show a significant improvement in participants' knowledge and skills, with pre-test scores at 50.30% and post-test scores reaching 86.19%. The program also resulted in the activation of e-commerce accounts and enhanced digital marketing capabilities among local artisans. Supporting factors included high participant enthusiasm and contextual learning materials, while limitations in digital infrastructure emerged as the main challenge. This initiative demonstrates that integrating information technology into local business management is an effective strategy for enhancing the competitiveness of culturally rooted products.
