Abstract

Training on the use of Mendeley in creating scientific papers aims to improve scientific writing skills among prospective teachers, especially in terms of managing references and citations in accordance with academic standards. This activity was carried out online with 29 participants from the Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Applied Sciences, Mandalika University of Education. This community service method adopted a practice-based training approach. The training involved two main sessions, namely a theory session and a practice session. In the theory session, participants were given an understanding of the importance of scientific writing in accordance with academic standards and how to use Mendeley in reference management. The practice session focused on teaching the use of Mendeley directly, from installing the application to managing references and inserting automatic citations in documents. Evaluation was carried out through pre-tests and post-tests to measure the improvement of participants' skills. The evaluation results showed a significant improvement in participants' skills. Before the training, only 30% of participants were able to operate Mendeley properly, but after the training, 92% showed significant improvement. The training also accelerated the process of compiling a reference list, from 3-4 hours to just 15-30 minutes. This training is expected to improve the quality of scientific writing among student teachers and prepare them to produce more structured, efficient, and academically compliant scientific work.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an effective mathematics learning video to improve student learning outcomes in trigonometry material at SMA Negeri 1 Utan. The method used is Research and Development (R&D). In the analysis stage, the results of observations on students showed that 60% of students had low learning outcomes in trigonometry material. In the design stage, the developed learning video focused on the rules of sines and cosines. This video was designed with a structured storyboard and script to facilitate student understanding. The results of video validation by two lecturers of the Mathematics Education Study Program, Mandalika University of Education, showed that the video had good validity, with an average score of 3.69 (74%) from the first validator and 4.46 (89%) from the second validator. In the implementation stage, the video was tested on students of class X IPS 2, and the pre-test results showed an average score of 50, while the post-test after using the learning video showed an increase with an average score of 80. Evaluation of student and teacher responses showed positive results, with an average student response score of 4.2 (agree) and a teacher response score of 4.47 (strongly agree), indicating that the learning videos were effective in improving student learning outcomes. This study concluded that trigonometry-based mathematics learning videos can be used as an effective alternative in online learning to improve student learning outcomes, especially in materials considered difficult.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of discovery learning model assisted by educational videos on students' mathematical creative thinking skills. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental type and a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The study was conducted at SMPN 13 Mataram on grade VII students in the 2025/2026 academic year. The research sample consisted of 84 students consisting of 42 students of grade VII D as the experimental class and 42 students of grade VII F as the control class. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. Data collection techniques were carried out through mathematical creative thinking ability tests and interviews. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene's homogeneity test, and independent sample t-test. The results showed that the average pre-test score of the experimental class was 47.31, increasing to 83.31 in the post-test, while the average pre-test score of the control class was 34.71, increasing to 70.57 in the post-test. The results of the hypothesis test on the post-test scores of the experimental and control classes showed a significance value of 0.000 <0.05, thus H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. This indicates a significant difference between the mathematical creative thinking abilities of students who learned using the discovery learning model assisted by educational videos and those who learned using conventional learning. Thus, the discovery learning model assisted by educational videos significantly influenced the mathematical creative thinking abilities of seventh-grade students at SMPN 13 Mataram.
